Re: $190 Y-pipe group buy!!
I got the same thing too (seemed like someone overslept ;-), but I just got through to Jeff (super nice guy btw) and placed my order (on hold though, sorry...we may have a big hurricane coming to S. FL and I have other things to worry about at this time; there should be more than enough people though for the GB if more people call in). I am still considering it but I have a few questions before I do it:
1. Is this Y pipe definitely a true bolt-on to the G35 Sedan's stock system? TD knows it works for the Coupe, but they're not sure about the Sedan. I believe it's the same Y pipe for both G's and the 350Z, but I'm not certain.
2. How does anyone know for sure if this or any other aftermarket Y pipe (alone) makes a difference in sound and performance when combining with a stock exhaust system (personally, I have no plans to change out my exhaust or muffler)? I really want a little better, deeper sound (more like our FX35) and any gain in HP would be nice, but I don't want to sacrifice low-end...will this Y pipe really change the sound and could it possibly reduce the low-end torque?
3. They won't be shipping out until all 20 orders have been received, so come on people...order so you get them and let everyone know what you think after installation. ;-)
Not trying to be wishy-washy, but 2 local muffler shops quoted me over $100 to install, so the $190 bargain just became a $300 potential investment, and I'm not sure if it's really worth it for me in my situation. Again, I am in no way trying to disuade anyone from the GB; just trying to get complete info to make an intelligent decision. Comments and answers are much appreciated. Thanks.

i guarantee you this is something you can install yourself with a couple jackstands...its a piece of cake...also i know it works for sure with the g35 sedan..i have a couple people buying them for there sedan and also fx35 i believe which is the suv....we just need to get everyone to call in asap...if bsgoren cancels out thats already 2 peopel canceling out at the time of pay...which i can understand certain situations but 190 isnt alot so lets try and order them soon as we can guys! thanks
Re: $190 Y-pipe group buy!!
I have this Y pipe in a coupe. I did not dyno my car before or after I installed it. BTW, $100 install is a crime. I had the opportunity to use a lift and it was a 10 minute job (including the air compressor wrench use). If you could put the G35 on jack stands, you could probably do it too. Not as easily but I don't see the $100 price tag. Currently, I have the Y pipe installed with my stock exhaust. My butt dyno tells me there are some gains but that's all I can tell you. The sound was modified to a deeper tone. Keep in mind that I have the high flow cats as well and the kinetix plenum. I feel a little rattling when I rev up the engine in neutral at about 2500 rpm. It could be the difference in diameter of the Y pipe vs. the stock exhaust and the fact that I used the stock gasket which could be vibrating. I don't plan to keep this setup as I am awaiting the rest of the exhaust (midpipe and muffler). That will make it 3 inch pipe all the way to the muffler. If keeping this Y pipe with the stock exhaust you should consider installing a reducer (20 bucks).

Re: $190 Y-pipe group buy!!
I have a sedan and I got this y-pipe from e-bay before this group buy was started. It fits perfectly on the sedan with no alignment issue. I'm running this y-pipe with the fujitsubo legalis-r exhaust and it's awesome.
By the way, $100 for installation is way out of line. My friend and I did this install in less than an hr, and the most difficult thing was aligning the car up on the stand. =)

Re: $190 Y-pipe group buy!!
I showed both muffler shops the pics of the Y pipe and the Reducer. One muffler shop told me about $120 installed with a home-made reducer and the other one said $110 installed with a home-made reducer or $90 if I supply both the Y pipe and Flowmaster reducer...they said "oh, well, there's labor involved." Yah, I figured about 20 min. for them to do. ;-( -- not exactly worth $90 -$100 or more IMHO but I bet there's a little room for negotiation. ;-)
My main issue though is that I will be keeping my stock setup (catback, muffler, etc.) and many people who are getting this Y pipe have Coupes (with a much nicer sounding stock exhaust already), not the Sedan and some already have or are getting a catback system, etc. So, I'm still uncertain if just adding this Y pipe on the Seedan's stock exhaust system for about $300 with installtion is worth any improvement in sound and HP (if any). I'm even thinking about just having a muffler shop remove the resonators from my stock system, but other people have said that makes the sound too raspy and annoying.
The other thing is that I wouldn't mind hearing some thoughts and results after a few people have installed this Y pipe on their Sedans (w/ stock exhausts) before making the investment. Thanks.
I may check around some more at other muffler shops. Any more comments are welcome. Thanks.

Re: $190 Y-pipe group buy!!
i think if you dont know anyone that works at a muffler shop that they are gonna rape any1 with a good looking 350z or infiniti...they figure we got the $ so why not spend that on the install....do it yourself!!!!!! hahah
Re: $190 Y-pipe group buy!!
Unlike many here, I really don't feel all the comfortable putting my car up on jacks for a DIY job; hell, I don't own any jacks, so I'd have to go buy those special for the job. Then, if I were to go with the Reducer (which sounds like the better thing to do for a stock setup), then the pipe must be cut and welded...definitely not inclined to do that myself.
I'm still more interested to know if this Y pipe generates a deeper, throaty sound (closer to the Coupe and FX35) on the Sedan with stock exhaust only and increases HP without sacrificing low end torque. I may still get it, but I might wait until others have installed it on their Sedans and post their impressions. It's hard to say what it will do for the Sedans judging by what it does for the Coupes, since the Coupes have a much different stock exhaust to begin with...man, I wish the Sedan came with the same dual exhaust as the G35 Coupe, the FX35/45, and the 350Z. Then, I would have been more than satisfied. I love driving my G35 more than our FX35 (much faster and much more nimble of course ;-), but as I drove our FX35 today, I was so jealous of it's sweet exhaust note!
I will check out some more muffler/exhaust shops in my area to look for a installation better quote, and then re-evaluate. Another option is just to save a few more $$ and wait for the APS plenum ;-)

Re: $190 Y-pipe group buy!!
i will guarantee you that its gonna make the exhaust sound better and deeper...less restrictions is gonna flow up air which in return your gonna get noise...also...jackstands are only like 20 bucks if that for a set of 2...your call though...
