I took AccordFreak's recommendation to shine a flashlight through the y side (just purchased a used HKS) and I dont have that issue either. I could see a little bit of a protrusion (about half a centimetre), but its hard to tell what that is; definitely not what OP experienced, could be just the angle I was looking at it or how the light was being flashed...I'll try and take pics sometime this week.

I'm very relieved.

Maybe bad QC on HKS' part for OP Either way, I'm happy with my HKS purchase). Looking forward to putting it on!

PS: Thanks OP for posting your findings.

Sketchy. This will definitely make me take a closer look when I shop for exhaust. Thanks for the post OP.

HKS Restriction....not too bad!

I know it's been a while since this thread started and not a lot of answers. After installing my BERK'S and reading this thread I was hearing strange noises from my HKS system, and I wasn't too far off. Once I received my Magnaflow crossover/x-pipe I had it installed this morning finding only 1/2" of restriction on one side and flush on the other. Not as bad as what we've seen. I did notice after install zero droan in the higher gears and a more mellow tone....Magnaflow crossover is so nice!

Performance, no noticeable "seat if the pants" increase. However the tone with the Magnaflow crossover is way nice, at freeway speeds just cruising along you don't notice the exhaust....zero rasp or droan.

The only thing that worries me is that the X pipe will lower the volume of the exhaust. If anything i'd like my HKS with Resonated Test Pipes and headers to be a bit louder rather than any quieter.

Additionally, I know X pipes tend to mellow out the sound more while H pipes tend to created a deeper more muscular sound. I personally like the deeper sound with the burble compared to the smooth higher pitch sound.

For those who've done this, what are your thoughts? How did the sound compare after you installed the X pipe compared to when your HKS had the factory H pipe??

my cam review thus far>>> https://g35driver.com/forums/media-s...pdates-92.html <<< see posts 1369 & 1370, no numbers yet, hoping to make it to the dyno on Thursday and doesn't look like i'll able to make it to the 1/4 mile this yr, since the last 2 dates for 2011 are too close to my Wife's due date.

This is a very specific question, but if anyone has done the resonated magnaflow x pipe to their authentic HKS and ART Pipes combo, please let me know what you think. I still experience minor rasp when at full throttle, and I've been considering adding the resonated x pipe to remove the leftover rasp and bring back some of the vq tone, but I don't wanna quiet down the current volume much.

I'm not sure how much the volume would be decreased, as art pipes are quieter already compared to test pipes or resonated test pipes.

Thanks for the feedback!

Wow, so its either a restriction with the real, or basically non functional with the knock off... Makes me think knock off is a better starting point.
