Why does my exhaust make a hissing noise?

https://www.reddit.com/r/G35/comment...hissing_sound/

Sound occurs at 2.5-3k rpm

my setup is non resonated test pipes, stock resonator, and muffler delete. could it be the resonator making the noise? or do i need a tune

You just get a lot of unwanted frequencies and rasp out of the tailpipe when there is only a resonator to quiet it down.

Great idea! By having test pipes and muffler delete you have what is known as the famous "Ghetto Exhaust!" You've removed everything that makes the system sound good, cheaply! Go to Magnflow and get a muffler that will make your exhaust sound somewhat normal!

At 16 yrs and 207,9XX miles, I finally needed a new resonator and muffler as it would not pass a safety inspection--plus it was getting quite loud in the cabin.

Didn't have much time to shop around, so I ended up going with OEM (or the currently available) resonator and muffler.
