AEM cold air vs. JWT Popcharger?

Currently i have an AEM cold air intake and i was wondering whether or not it is better compared to the other short ram intakes. Any input?

i actually have the AEM as well and have heard that our ecu doesn't like long-tube intakes.

but i've never really seen any dyno comparisons of intake mods. i went cold-air because it's a normal mod.

JWT pop charger with ztube is best with g35... gives you deeper growl at WOT! and gives 5-6 hp!!! awesome

hehe. there's always debates on this topic.

CAI's do pretty much nothing on our cars except make it sound awesome

I have a pop charger + z-tube and I love it.

I've read that the TS ecu reflash reduces a correction factor designed to nullify intake mods....so with the reflash a CAI may be worth something.

That's my hope, at least. After I get headers I gotta have the thing reflashed.

Difference

I already have the ztube with the KN drop in filter. I already love the way it sounds. Is there a big sound difference swapping out the filter box with a popcharger? I realize the hp gains are probably neglible. Just wondering about the sound.

Thanks,

Les

i just installed the pop-charger on monday. coming from the z tube and drop in k&n. when I first installed the ztube and k&n I didn't notice anything. once I installed the pop-charger I felt the difference right away! the "GROWL" is awesome however I didn't buy it for that. i definitely feel the pull throughout the entire rpm band. i can tell right away too my gas mileage has been sacrificed.

Gas Mileage

Is the loss of gas mileage a natural occurance because of the actual popcharger and why

....or do people just tend to open it up more often to hear that crazy sound!!!! :-)

g35's gas mileage is bad to start with. 20 gal tank and a said 19/26 mpg.. that should mean at worst 400 miles to the tank. I'm lucky if I get 300.

Hell, I traded in a Durango for my coupe so this is heaven for me.

But with respect to gas mileage, going from ztube/kn to ztube/popcharger, what kind of mileage loss should I expect?

Thanks,

Les

well, first off my gas mileage probably decreased due to the added power and I tend to open it up every chance I get. second, I noticed my cruising speed has increased about 5mph, 80mph to 85mph. whenever you start modding with the engine, whatever you do you will definitely sacrifice something. if you're really worried about your gas mileage then I wouldn't mod.

i'm with Shady908, I'm lucky if I get to 300. I usually fill up right around 270, but that's not on "E".
