Bumping this thread. Anyone know how to incorporate a relay and switch into this set-up?

Rich if you get this done I'll pay you to do it for me (minus the switch you are talking about).

If you're using a switch, I doubt you'd need a relay (as long as all of your wiring just uses that switch and not the other electrical wires).

The reason you'd want a relay is tap the signals the car sends (i.e. "doors are open" or "headlights are on").

I'm looking into doing the latter - I want my school colors to come on when the headlights are on, and fortunately those match the orange in the dash. According to the FSM (see section Electrical / Lighting System / Illumination pages 187 - 188) there are more than a dozen "headlight on" signal wires, which should be able to drive a relay.

I'll update this thread if I get it done - shooting for end of the month.

I decided to run this to my cigarette lighter so that it'll turn on when the car is on. Would it be safe to run a switch without relay for this application? I need the electrical gurus to chime in on this please!

well, i just did everything OP did. easy to install, no problems.

routing the cathode tube through the center console was the only part that took a while.

To everyone that did this mod, did you have to solder an extension to the red/black cabled to hook up the back CCFL's?

for those who are connecting the lights to the cigarette lighter instead of the BCM harness, i have a few switches here that i use for computer builds. it has on, off, flash ( 1 sec on, 1 sec off) and sound control. basically it will flash according to the music you are playing.

since it wont do much good to people who are connecting it to the dome lights, some might want it if its connected to the cigarette lighter switch.

ill be happy to ship these out if you guys will pay just shipping for it.

Yeah, it's actually not that bright. The shutter on the camera stayed open a little longer than expected. Thanks-

Okay well by the looks of it I went through this thread and it looks like your all installing it on coupes. I have a Sedan. So last night I did the driver side to test it out Super Easy!!

My Question is where in the sedan do i put the rear ccfl tubes. Under the back seats didnt look like enough room to hide the ccfl tubes. I was thinking about putting under the two front seats towards the back.

Your thoughts and also on a sedan where do you hide the wire from the back to the front?
