Painted my rims black!!

Alright so for tonight you only get teaser and in progress shots because I'm letting the base coat sit over night, then I'm going to hit them with some 1500 grit to even everything out, then put clear down.

I used Duplicolor Primer and Duplicolor Semi-Gloss Black Engine Enamel.

I haven't painted the center caps yet because I'm on the fence. My plan is to get a red TA stripe to set the wheels off, but I dunno about the caps. I'll have polished lug nuts, may get black eventually, depends on if I want to spend the money yet. So whatcha think??

FLYING CAR!!

No matter what kinda tape we used it would NOT stick to the tire, so my friend I opted for massive note cards.... looks like a dog with a cone in it's head... BAD RIMS! lol

And now I put some of the base coat on.... I put more paint on than there are in these pictures. This stuff went on WAY easier than the regular Duplicolor enamel I was using on my grill and headlights...

Comments? Opinions? Anyone see a problem with my idea to hit them with 1500 tomorrow to even them out, then clearing them?

No I didn't paint the back, I think of several DIY that I read about this process, only one did it, and he said it was because he was ****. I'm not too worried about it. Are you speaking from experience, or you just THINK it'll look crappy?

Exactly what does **** mean? Could it mean your obsessed about doing the
project, what ever it is correctly? I can still see silver on the edges of your
wheels in the last pic you posted, did you spray the wheels after that pic?
Sorry, I would have shot the inside too, it would have required more work
but the outcome would have been more finished. I guess I'm ****....
Post some pic of your finished project.

Well if I read 4 DIY and only one painted the back... then I say it's not a NECESSARY part of the painting. Sanding is necessary, priming is also probably necessary, painting the back, perhaps not.

If you had read my post you would have noticed that I was NOT done with them in those pictures, I think I put 2 more coats on after those pictures. Tomorrow when I have them finished up and mounted I will post pictures.

I'm not sure what you're referring to is actually silver, but more a reflection, or maybe it's just a small part of the index card that is down in the gap and isn't painted.

I would suggest doing the lug nut holes and inside of the wheels

I can't really do much more of inside the lug nuts holes without overspraying the middle section. Keep in mind these are not THE FINISHED PICTURES.

In order for me to do the inside, I would have to sand them down which would get metal dust ALL over my freshly painted fronts.... I do not think this is a good idea! I'm just going to mount them and see what's up.

bro u shoulda taped off the inside of the rim so that way u wouldnt have to worry about it looking bad. i did that and they came out GREEEEAAATTT!!!

and dont time attack them! leave em black the stock 18's dont have any lip so it wouldnt make sense to throw time attack vinyl on em unless they were oem 19's.

but all in all GOOD JOB!
