Hey everyone, I picked up a wreck 03 G35 sedan for a grand as a drivetrain donor for an old Datsun project. I managed to pull the core support far enough from the engine enough to fit a junkyard radiator from an M35x (which totally does not fit) and hacked up some sheetmetal rad mounts to make it run again.
I'm driving it to work until I am ready to pull the motor. Gotta say, this is one nice car. I have never owned a proper sport sedan and am really enjoying how it handles, the rumbly VQ noises (or that an exhaust leak?), how hard it pulls, and the nice interior. I just might regret taking this car apart.
Anyway, as a heads-up I will be parting out the body and interior in about a month or two. I am located an hour south of Indy, so if you're nearby and in need of some parts, hit me up and I'll hold them for you.
I saw your thread mentioned on grassroots motorsports! Welcome! Throw a set of swaybars on and 30 seconds after your first drive you'll be looking for a different motor to swap into the Datsun.
Starting the Datsun build this weekend...which means my G35 is up for part-out! PM me if you need anything from interior or body panels. I'm keeping all drivetrain related parts.
And another picture showing my temporary grill fix since broken plastic chunks kept falling off. It's stucco lathe painted with gloss black. Whatever works.
In case anyone has been wondering, the swap is complete and I've been driving and enjoying the hell out of it! Working on the body and paint now, taking it autocross, and hopefully a drag strip soon. And still well under the $2000 budget limit! The G was a cool car, but its soul lives on now in this Datsun.
