i checked my oil today its at half on the dip (about 3.5k miles) so my guess is no consumption for me /phew some luck finally...

btw MG35Coupe did u ever get your shifter fixed? when they replaced my tranny/clutch i had a similar problem where 5th gear wasnt top right, it was more of a top right, half inch to the left, then up. ended up the gear box or something was crooked they fixed it no questions asked now its good as new .

Hope it's a winner now leak fix.
Interesting observation for you, John, I have driven my car some 200+ miles since the oil leak resolution. I took the oil catch can off after the fix and as requested by the dealership. Since that time, the car has light engine ping/knock at light throttle.

LMAO . . . I guess I can monitor the OC via the vapor by-pass, which is probably causing the light pinging, since I cannot physically see the oil in the catch can anymore.

Andy...check to make sure your not sucking in any air from hoses where catch can was. Sucking air = lean = ping and turns into vicious cycle with others aspects of pinging causes.

Yeah, I checked and rechecked the PCV and lower intake plenum connections. To be quite honest, the pinging does not surprise me at all. The catch can was filling up quicker than it was with the original engine. So, with the oil catch gone, all of the oil vapor is simply re-entering at the intake plenum and breaking down the gasoline's octane level.

Well check that stick at ~500mi and 1000mi to see what's up with your level. Hopes it's still at full for your sake now leak is gone.

And/or screw dealer and put catch can back on, shhhhh
Your not in testing anymore, or are you? I forget.
But in all respects, you shouldn't require one really for normal operation.

Have a few tricks up my sleeve of recent knowledge obtained. Well talk next time we see each other again
I want to know of the learned knowledge

Damn it, John, that it not the news I wanted to tell you.
