Just go for the 1/2" spacer. You WILL NOT BE SORRY!!!!!! I wanted the 3/8" spacer too, but only because I wanted to keep the engine cover. I finally decided to try it without the cover.
The engine cover has now been on my garage floor for a couple of months now. It will probably never see my engine again.

I looked at the Copper TB Heater, and wondered how much our occasional dips to -15 F to -30 F temps would affect the heating of the throttle body. To be safe, I decided to insulate most of the exposed surface of the Heater with an insulating foam tape (thoughtfully supplied by my neighbour in the Insulating business
)

Idle is set from the factory at 650 +/-50 RPM. So you're in spec.

Preparation: Before performing the "Idle Air Volume Learning" procedure, make sure all the following conditions are satisfied. Learning will be cancelled if any of the following conditions are "not in spec".
1) Battery voltage: More than 12.9V (At idle)
2) Engine coolant temperature: 70 - 100°C (158 - 212°F)
3) PNP switch: ON (AT in Park - MT in Neutral)
4) Electric load switch: OFF (A/C, headlamps, rear window defogger, etc.)
On vehicles equipped with daytime running lights, set the parking brake before starting the engine, the headlamps will not illuminate.
5) Steering wheel: Neutral (Straight-ahead position)
6) Vehicle speed: Stopped
7) Transmission - ATF temperature: 65C (149F)
Perform these two procedures before completing the Idle Air Volume Learning Procedure.
-- "Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning Procedure" --
1. Make sure that the accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
3. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
4. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
5. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
-- "Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning" Procedure --
1. Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch is “ON”.
3. Turn ignition switch is “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
Make sure that the throttle valve moves during above 10 seconds by confirming the operating sound.
-- Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning) --
Note 1: This procedure is similar to but slightly different than the ECM "Accelerator Pedal ECM Reset Procedure".
Note 2: It's usually best to count the time accurately with a clock.
1. Perform "Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning".
2. Perform "Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning".
3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Check that all "Preparation" parameters are in satisfied.
5. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
6. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch ON and wait 3 seconds.
7. Repeat the following procedure quickly five times within 5 seconds.
a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal.
b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
8. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the MIL stops blinking and turns ON.
9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the MIL turned ON.
10. Start engine and let it idle.
11. Wait 20 seconds.
12. Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure that idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications.
Idle speed = 650 ± 50 rpm (in P or N position)
Ignition timing = 15 ± 5° BTDC (in P or N position)

Ordered last week from partshippers, received very promptly A+!
Now on to the fun part - Read the instructions first to just get a feel of the undertaking. Kit came packaged well all parts clearly defined and noted on what you need to use. Install with another person took a little over an hour maybe.
Reset the ECU by doing the brake pedal method, immediately sounded like something else was under the hood @ 4k RPMs.
It seems like the midrange has a bit more torque and definitely more at top end. Overall I seem happy with the install, the kit came with 2 intake manifold spacers, I decided to put on both. After my quick test drive, the plenum seemed definitely significantly colder after the run and I left the valve open for the throttle body (since its still ~40ish here).
I am planning to go dyno my car thursday, will post results after that. I didn't feel like baselining dyno, but I'm just curious to see what I will get compared to everyone else.

anyone have dynos for the plenum spacers on '05+ 5AT? i still can't figure out if there are gains to be had for my '06 5AT sedan. also what's the word on how this will affect the warranty?

I have noticed that either my driving is too spirited but since the spacer install for a quarter of a tank I have gone 30 miles. Something is not right or I just am enjoying it too much. Also the plenum upper and lower are SIGNIFICANTLY cooler to the touch since putting in that ISO spacer, I can touch it w/o being burned. Pretty cool.
