Well I had a garage install the motordyne 5/16 spacer today in my 06 g35 sedan and i have noticed the difference. The pickup of the car is much faster as it flies to the 4k rpm easily.
The install was done easily - with me nagging the tech since he only installed the skunk spacer on a 350z. Anyways all went well - we did not install the aramid gasket because, as he said , your car is one month old so there is no need for it now.
So i only had the plenum spacer installed and the tech forgot to attach a coolant tube. i started the car and darn coolant was leaking in. stopped it and had it fixed.
Now I gotta get my engine washed because im a picky owner and want it clean everywhere.
simple install and great upgrade.

The labour involved would have been minimal while everything was apart. To add it after would require taking apart everything again!
If I were you, I'd go back and have them do it right.

Hmmm. +1
I think the guy was being lazy. He should have installed it for you. It would have been so easy from that point. And the instructions show how to do everything.
Do you think he can install it without additional charge? If you think he might, you should nag him to do it.
BTW - Congrats on the results!

I installed my 5/16 motordyne spacer with aramid gasket yesterday. I didn't do the coolant control valve because down here in FL it doesn't get below 55 degrees enough to warrant the install. I have an 04 5AT coupe with 32,000 miles. It took about 2.5 hrs. Mostly because I took my time but I did get ahead of myself a few times and had to take some things apart to install some pieces I forgot. I did the gas pedal ECU reset afterward and haven't had any problems. I noticed a small increase in acceleration in the lower rpms and a little bit better in the higher rpms (above 3000). The engine is slightly deeper now but not very noticeable. All in all I'm happy with the changes. Big thanks to Tony at Motordyne, he is a really nice guy and very easy to deal with. I won a $250 Motordyne gift certificate at an event in Tampa called The Run and Tony walked me through how to buy the spacer with the gift certificate. Great guy and a great product, I recommend it.
My 5/16 Iso is on it's way right now (Thanks again, Tony).
I've also been looking at the ztube+popcharger setup. I've heard that this, in combo with the plenum, will make me run too lean, etc. Can any of you drop any knowledge on this subject?
BTW I have an 05 5at
I'll be sure to describe my install experience as soon as I get it done next week.

Before going FI,
I have bought & sold MD 1/2 spacer due to not seeing any gain at track.
After the MD spacer, I've had lean signals logged ~30 times at dealer after taking the car in. After removing the spacer, the lean signal went away.
I blamed it on the spacer back then. Come to think about now, I believe there is a more logical explaination with
knowledge gained on how the G controls AFR during my FI journey.
The spacer will give more air, no doubt, However, most people add spacer, intake, cat back etc. ( I had cat back & Z-tube before adding spacer) never do any tunning. All these mods, especially spacer may create a lean condition. Once the ECU detect the lean condition, it'll retard timing causing the car to lose power, all of a sudden, the what supposed to be a gain becomes a loss.
Simply put, same spacer mod, the power gain seen by some may be a power loss by others depends on what other Air breathing mods are on the car & if the lean condition is being detected by ECU.
To optimize the spacer mod, there are several ways to go:
1, Remove other air breathing mod, do you really want to do that?
2, Reflash ECU to program it with the increased air. ~$500
3, Get a piggy back ECU & do a tunning, most expensive.
4, Get a slightly bigger fuel pump. -most economical way to go,
adding fuel pump does not require tunning.
Stock fuel pump is 90lph, most FI use 255lph pump.
With a few air mod, I believe a ~130-160 lph fuel pump may help to balance out the air mod, stay away from lean condition & gain back the lost power.
I have just upgraded my HKS fuel pump (Came with the HKS S/C, rated 140-160 lp) to a 255 lph fuel pump. So my HKS fuel pump is up for grabs,
anyone wants to try it with your spacer mod, I'll part with it for $79 shipped.
This fuel pump is rare, there isn't another fuel pump upgrade small enough could be used for NA mods, the smallest I've seen is 190 lph. PM me if want to try it.

motordyne 5/16" spacer
Just installed this last night and wow, its an awesome mod, i can def feel the difference. I Def. recomend it.
Also soon to come in the next week or so

Tein Basics

The MREV2 is the next mod to do....Wow, what a difference! I would suggest doing them both at the same time. The plenum spacer is really easy, the only thing you need is a torque wrench. The MREV2 lower plenum isn't hard, it's just more involved.
Trust me....it's worth the money!
