Quote: Hi,
05 AT's have the origial motor (unlike the 05 6mt w/ 298hp), so the spacer has show good results on the NON 298hp motor.
Its been dynoed on that plenum configuration many times. ...Between 8-13 HP and typically above 10.

Quote: i just dynoed my 05 300hp engine whit test pipe,y pipe, and aam spacer
best pull 248whp whit a 226 max torque sae corrected and lowest 240whp
does number kind suck i was looking for 260whp+ so im like at 293 crank engine hp
can i say the 300hp oem engine is well overated that all bull**** marketing
a/f was very rich 11.5 in topend
the dyno brand is dynojet 248
Here's a word of advice.......

Get rid of your test pipes. That's probably hurting your numbers a bit. Unless you have a s/c or turbo, these test pipes are of little use accept for maybe a louder exhaust sound.

Find a good high-flow exhaust and try your dyno again. You may have a better result.

so what the hell is the deal? all this money is being made off this part and you cant get ahold of a 6mt to go and do a test on to see if your part works on the 05 6mt? for the love of god somebody go dyno this thing before and after.. i would do it and pay for it but im in iraq right now so i kinda cant.. lol im begining to think you dont want to see the results of a before and after dyno. i know if i had a company i would have done some tests on the part before i started selling it to 05 6mt's... what if this part starting doing something wrong to the cars?

I want to dyno it on a 05 6MT ASAP. But there are a few requirements that need to be met:
1) Need to find someone in the area with an 05 6MT and preferably with a 350Z. Z owners don't readily accept testing done on anything but a Z. (This is the easy part.)

2) Testing should be done at a dyno day. I could test it myself but that would only leave the door open to legitimate skepticism. For the results to truly be accepted the pre/post testing needs to be done on an independent car with a lot of independent witnesses observing. And preferably with people from MY350Z and G35DRIVER. Dyno day testing was done on the 03's and 04's plenums too.

Like yourself, I'm skeptical of the claims made by many manufacturers. There are a lot of products with claims of big HP numbers and they're bogus. Turbonators, tornados, resistors, magnets and other junk that do nothing or worse.

I’ve put out a Dyno day feeler in the Z & G So Cal forums. An 05 6MT pre/post dyno should happen soon enough.

Tony

PS Thanks for your service in Iraq.

Well, finally got around to dynoing my 2005 6MT coupe today. I have had my Motordyne 3/8" spacer for about 2 months. I installed it initially but after hearing some skeptics, I took it off to do my own test. So I dynoed my baseline today. My baseline runs include Z-tube, k&n drop in filter, and sun grounding kit(probably didn't do anything anyway). Then I installed the Motordyne spacer with no changes. Here are the best runs from both. Looks like the spacer worked for me. 5-8 HP across the top end.

AzSi22,

Great gains you have there. It looks like you have about a 10 HP delta in some areas of the curve. Were test controls in effect?

There is also another dyno on a 05 6MT comming up soon.

Vleo8181 was the first to sign up for the spacer dyno test at the July 16 So Cal dyno day.

The So Cal dyno day will have a huge attendance and should be a lot of fun.
https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...161#post637161

Vleo8181 will be testing a spacer on his 05 6MT. Many Z and G witnesses will be present. Test conditions will be strictly controlled and results will be posted (regardless of outcome).

I will also be dynoing new mods on my G. And to any extent time allows I will try to dyno HP Vs plenum spacer heigth, HP Vs air intake temperature and HP Vs engine coolant temperature.

This data will be used to map out fundamental engine performance parameters. Not only it would give insight into how how the engine/ECU will react to different conditions, it could map directions to take in development of new mods.

I hope time allows for all my testing. About twice as many people signed up for the So Cal dyno day as expected!

I did my best to maintain all the variables. The motor was relatively cool the baseline runs. Fan blowing and cooled for a good 20 minutes. Made 3 runs, took the best of all 3. Installed the spacer, warmed up the car, made 3 runs, all were exactly the same in power curves.

This is great news. Thanks for this info and posting the graphs. I have my spacer in a box right now untouched. I look forward to more dynos. If more good news comes back, i'll install it instead of selling it.

Right on AzSi22!!!
Glad to hear it was a controlled test. Next Saturday we will have another controlled test to view.

Its amazing to see that Nissan would not have already tapped into this potential gain. Sure they modified the 05 6MT runner area and length for additional HP, but it would be so easy for them to also design the upper plenum only a 1/4" higher and get even more gains. Its not like they aren't aware of so many after market manufacturers/consumers taking advantage of upper plenum air flow restriction.

Makes you wonder... Mabey they left the easily gained HP there intentionally? But why? I know they aren't stupid. It must be to keep the Nissan/Infinity mod geeks like us happy? Like throwing a dog a bone.

Or am I giving Nissan too much credit?

Well next week will tell us even more.... we'll see.

Good gains you have there!

I hope so, I got the 1/2". I don't feel any extra power but I guess you wouldn't feel 5rwhp in the upper band. I think we are having another dyno in the beginning of august so I should be able to help out in this question.

Hydra, I bet they left untapped power there for future years, kinda of a sandbagging trick like hiding some cash for a rainy day. Someone in a 245 hp VQ probably wonders the same thing.
