This picture shows the three pairs of wires (red/yellow/green) that have to be cut from the harness and soldered together. Match the identical colors and you're done.

Awesome! Thanks! Should I disconnect the harness and toss the module or just leave it plugged in and splice the wires?

Disconnect it.

You could try and sell it, but they're not prone to failure, so not many people need them for replacements, and you can't exactly add them to a car that wasn't equipped without adding an entirely new wiring harness throughout most of the car... so just remove it from the car to save weight.

This is what is left besides the amp. I took out the bluetooth and the sirius modules.

I am assuming the reverse wire is one of these? Do we know color or a good way to figure it out? Thought it was purple but there are several. I am an idiot.

1)1 of Bose amp wire connectors...should I be using any of these wires?

2)Is it ok to leave the amp fully disconnected if i am going to install a new 5 channel?

3) since the amp is only 5 channel and there are 6 speakers to power, should i put 6x9 and 4 inch speakers on same channel or the 6.5 components and 4 inch speakers?
So I am almost certain that this harness has all the speaker wire connections that i need for the vehicle.

Is there an easier diagram to show exactly which wires are which? The factory diagram seems to be super confusing.

I know i am not the sharpest tool in the shed but I really appreciate the help and i know that this info will keep this thread alive and help out alot of people.

Alright, so I posted the above reply thinking that I should run new wires for the speakers when I realize that I could just connect them up at the head unit. I know I am making this much more complicated then what it is but I am just trying to get it right the first time. I am doing a complete overhaul of the audio system. Replacing every speaker, the amp, and the head unit with much more options. A couple questions about it though...

1) I am installing a 5 channel amp, do I disconnect the bose amp completely or should it stay plugged in so it can make the connection so I can connect at the head unit?

2) Being that there are only 4 channels connected at the head unit and not 6, are the front speakers and 4 inch speakers connected on the same channel or are the 6x9's and 4 inch speakers connected on the same channel.

3) Is it ok to use the amp turn on in the bose harness instead of running the new line up front (to avoid interference)?

I am just trying to install a 5 channel amp in place of the bose system. I realize that it is much easier to connect the speaker wires at the head unit as opposed to in the trunk. I was originally going to run the wires from the amp directly into the bose harness but now I see its easier to connect using the metra harness, I am just not sure what speakers are powered on what channels.

Any input on this? Does this mean I do not need the axxess unit? I bought it already but now this makes me confused...

Yes, this looks like on of those newfangled android-based radios, which don't use a steering wheel adapter. It'll require more programming on the headunit, but shouldn't be too bad.

Interesting. I already had hooked up a couple wires of the axxess but I well. You can see how vague those instructions are. Do u have a guess as to what wires to hook up to which for the key 1 key 2 and SWC? I am assuming I still ground the yellow wire? Thanks.

Hey Wrath is it possible to connect the oem mic to a new head unit? If so I assume the wires for the mic are on the m39 harness but no idea which ones. Do you know which ones are for the oem mic and is it worth even trying to reuse?

No, not worth re-using, and they don't go on the M39, the mic wires go to the bluetooth adapter in the trunk, not the radio.

How hard would it be to change the mic in the ceiling? I'm trying for an oem look. Could someone splice a better mic in the ceiling? I'll be getting a Pioneer AVH-X3700BHS and it comes with a mic and 3.5mm input. Could I splice that into the ceiling or would it be better to replace the oem mic with that one and try to run the wire through the ceiling an down one of the roof pillars?

The factory location compromises quality to be hidden. You'll get much better quality having the microphone more exposed, like this:

I watched the video on running new speaker wire through the factory door molex and was wondering if you left some things out, like drilling holes through the car side molex?
and putting the car side plug into door jam before reconnecting door side molex?

There was some left out, yes, because the door jam was so tight to try and work in, I couldn't do that and hold the camera, and I felt it was obvious and straightforward enough steps that it'd be ok without them.

If somebody needed that work done and came to me and was willing to handle the camera to get good shots of it, I'd re-do the video.
