Yet another Cali crackdown...

This time, they raided a huge meet and gave everyone tickets for racing... when no racing was involved.

That is bogus to put it lightly...I would like to know an exact number of how much money they wasted doing this? I'm sure it was not cheap for the state of California and to think of all the crime that took place while this so call raid was happening...I feel for you guys in Cali that is total B.S.

That really, really sucks.

But then again, that site doesn't sound like a credible news source.

i cant believe this .. this is the only reason they are doing it!!!!

from the same story posted

Across the state, gas tax funds are regularly used to fund similar crackdowns that generate big revenue. In 2004, the California Highway Patrol issued a total of 101,553 "modified car" citations worth $10.5 million according to CHP data obtained by TheNewspaper.

"If you're not into street racing, why would you need that?" Riverside Police Traffic Sergeant Skip Showalter asked an enthusiast during a similar crackdown last year. "Why would you want more power going to your car?"
Well Skip, this question doesnt make much sense to me. Why does a Porsche come with 500hp? Why does a Shelby Cobra come with 450 HP? Hell according to your question, why does anyone need any car with over 120 hp because those get us around very well. Any car with over 120hp means you have more power and you need and that means you're into street racing. I guess trucks that haul stuff would be excluded from this statement.

Neighboring business managers at Hooters Restaurant and John's Incredible Pizza are glad the problem was addressed. At times, they said, cars speed through their parking lots, threatening the safety of others and scaring away customers.

"They seek a big parking lot and ours is huge," said Jim Finigan, director of operations at John's Incredible Pizza.
Hmmm bad move...If i were the buisness I'd stay neutral, letting all the enthusiasts know that they're not welcome at your business may hurt them.

isnt that private property? As far as I know you cant issue tickets to parked cars but then again its the cops against the people so we loose.
