Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)

Thanks Bo. It's a bummer you're not able to play w. us this time. Cali Speedway in December is strongly considered here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my schedule will be able to accomodate it.

Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)

If anyone else has access to more outdoor canopy/tent contraption ... by all means please bring them. Chairs would be nice too.

I have a canopy but it won't fit in my car (a full set of race tire/wheel is filling the back seats). Could someone help me transport them???

Thanks in advance,

Clint (THX723)

Yeah, I remember when I went to Streets of Willow it was 100
+ that day too. 87 will be a welcome change. Still bringing the sunblock though.

Clint I have a pretty good sized E-Z Up. I'll try and fit it into the car. I was thinking of bringing it anyways.

I picked up a Scroth harness. I've tried it out on kind of a long drive. Man I would hate to drive daily with that damn thing, but man let me tell you, I feel very connected to the car while I'm wearing it.

What kind of long sleeve COTTON shirt do I wear? A long sleeve T-shirt?

Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)

Clint and all,

I have a 20' X 15' tented canopy we could put together at the track but it needs to be anchored with spikes into dirt. If we set up on pavement we will need to tie down the legs with concrete weights to keep the canopy from blowing away...and I don't have any weights to tie it down with.

Additionally, setup time is about 20 min with 2 people. I suppose the yellow group (that's me) and one other could set it up while the red group is on the track.

It would make a good place to keep the ICE chests out of the sun too.

Ideas?

Hydrazine,

How do you know what run group your in? I looked at the run ordrr but never saw any names or such.

Also My E-Z up is about 12X12 and sets up in about 3 minutes. Hence the name E-Z Up. I also need to get some bags that we could fill with sand. I bet there is a lot of sand out at Buttonwillow. Probably not a whole lot more.

With the crowd we have maybe we should have a few canopies. The more the marrier.

6speedG35Sedan and Hydrazine,
That's wonderful ... bring them all I actually have TWO EZ-ups that I'd like to bring too, but I need to find someone willing to carry them for me. I can also bring some iron plates from a bench press to anchor down the canopies. Can someone supply strings (lots of em) to tie to?

Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)

Hi Guys! Bad news...no, I didn't blow my motor! But, it does have to do with my SC. The installer was supposed to have my car ready yesterday, but a few components were malfunctioning out of the box and he has to wait for Vortech to send them. Probably won't have my car back until late Friday at the earliest and I really feel it would be irresponsible of me to take the car right to the track without putting a few hundred miles on it to make sure all the kinks are out (which was the plan if I got my car back Wednesday)...so, please have fun and BE SAFE. I'll miss not having the chance to hang out with you guys and hopefully we can all meet up in the near future and chill.

Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)

Randy,
Sorry to hear. You should know better to do a major mod just before track day Ultimately it was a wise decision to withdraw from Buttonwillow. I wouldn't have attempted to track the car even if the SC was done installing a week ago. Too much at stake, not knowing if it's tuned to tip top condition.

Are you still planning on coming out to see us? May be you can become the official support vehicle ... I need someone to help carry the EZ-ups.

Sorry to hear you can't make it, but you are definitely making the right decision.

Even if you did make it to the track and never had a single problem, your whole days fun would be haunted by the constant worry of what could go wrong.
