Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)

My buddy Iori with the DG 6MT coupe is coming too. He lives in Glendale so either he will hook up with us at Mijares, or at Newhall. He is in Atlanta today and tomorrow, so not checking this BB. We have to go to Boston on business together Monday, so probably he will decide around then when we have a chance to talk on the plane.

I was able to get my new RA-1's from Toyo to replace the worn out shoes, so that is good. Will put in about two extra degrees of negative camber with the adjustable front upper control arms to really get nasty for the turns.

Gabe at Sparco is setting me up with some great Milano seats which I hope to have installed on Sept 30th. The nomex fire suit is good for protecting you against getting toasted, but in the leather seats of the G35 you slide all over like crazy, so these seats in microfiber suede and with bigger bolsters should help a lot. Gabe is being a real gentleman and helping me out with this, so as a reciprocation of his courtesy, anybody who is interested in them is invited to take a couple laps with me and check em out. I will even supply the barf bag.

Zaza, we will coming to rescue you at or before 8pm, from the dangerous, high risk environs of the In N Out Burger off Interstate 5, swooping in like Delta Force, but smelling like armour all and wd-40, with the slight background fragrance of orange Go-jo, and carrying a supply of cigars. What more does a guy want? An usher job at the Tropicana?

Ed,

Mijares sounds great! There will two of us. I have a friend coming. Do you have an address for Mijares? 6pm at Mijares it is then. I just picked up a 4 point Scroth harness. I hope that will hold me to the seat a little better. I've been looking at the Cobra seat, but I'll have to take a spin with you in the Sparcos. Are you buying the seats or is he lending them to you to try and get some sales? If you buying them how much? Which model seat is it again?

6Speed:
I am buying the seats. But he is interested in getting some interest in our community in the product, obviously, because business is business. The Milano is a top of the line product, and I am buying it because I think it is the best seat I can find out there that is not a shell. I want the ability to adjust the rake, which of course you cannot do with a shell. And it has lumbar and leg support. The microfiber suede in black should look just fine, and it will really lock your little bottom and sides in snugly compared to the stock seat. It may be a touch lower, but since I am 6' and have to lean back a little more than I like anyway in the car, this will actually be a plus for me.
You can check out the seats at www.sparcousa.com

Oopps ... major major boo boo on my part. I screwed up the Map to Buttonwillow. The link I provided in the earlier post is actually that of Willow Springs.

Here's the correct addie to Buttonwillow. (Thanks to Hydrazine for the catch).

Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)

OK, lads and ladies. Plan for the Motel Gang is that we meet at Mijares on Friday night October 1st at 6pm (Pasadena). We have a bite to eat and then launch to Newhall and rendezvous with our comrades at 8pm at the In N Out burger, then caravan to beautiful downtown Buttonwillow. Grab some rest and up bright and early, pretech the cars and head to the track a couple miles away.
I have to go to Boston with my partner Iori, back on Thursday afternoon. By then I can pick up my car with the wheels and tires swapped out and the additional negative camber dialed in. (I am so looking forward to this outing)!!
My extra helmet is for Amy, unless she does not register to come, and in that case Kawika has call upon it.
Cheers.

Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)

Thanks for Ed's offerring helmet. Thanks alot. Very nice of you, I just didn't notice that you mentioned here that you let me use your extra helmet long time ago. But I ran out of time to get my new tires first, I thought I could've gotten my new tires....Well, I can't make for this time. That's why i needed more time to register. But it seems like I can't do this time.
You guys have fun and take many pictures and post them up...!!! And please drive safe...

MUFFLER SOUND EXPERIMENT

Hi guys,

I would like your help and feedback on a muffler experiment.

Of everyone going to Buttonwillow this Saturday, does anyone have the Stillen cat back on his or her NA Sedan?... During lunch break, I would like to do a side-by-side comparison of your unmodified Stillen cat back along side my modified Stillen cat back. In this case, subjective evaluations are more important than measurments but I will also take direct measurements of SPL and muffler pressure drop.

You won’t need to do anything to your car except to park it along side mine and rev it a few times. That's it.

My friend Titus will take short video/sound clips of both vehicles side by side. My exhaust is set up to easily switch out one muffler for another. I will be picking up Magnaflow (straight thru) mufflers this Wednesday and will make them part of the comparison. I also have straight pipes for the sound quality comparison. The straight pipes sound awesome but are also very loud.

I would like to get your opinions on the subjective quality of sound between the different setups (Stillen muffler Vs Magnaflow muffler Vs Straight pipes)

I welded a pressure tap on my Stillen cat back just upstream of the muffler and X-pipe section. With the pressure tap I will take pressure measurements of the different mufflers connected to the system.

Some time after Buttonwillow I will reconnect my Stock OEM exhaust with a pressure tap built in just upstream of the Y pipe, resonator and muffler. I will then measure pressure drop of the different parts of the stock exhaust. If there is excessive pressure drop from any single part of the stock exhaust, we will know exactly where it happens.

All results will be recorded and posted on the G35driver Exhaust board.

For all the money we spend on expensive exhaust mods, we will finally have subjective opinions and objective measurements to compare the Stock cat back Vs a aftermarket catback. The comparison will show how much cat back performance changes (if at all) relative to the changing sound level and sound quality.

Tony

Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)

Are we running configuration #1 or #14? On the site it shows #1 but you mentioned #14.

2 G or not 2 G, there's no question!
