Hi Randy,
What city is Rexford in? I assumed the Slymar get together was in Slymar? If it's in Slymar that would be too far the wrong direction for me.

Thanks
Tony

Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)
ZaZaR,

Oh ROXford!... :-) I know where that is. I know the Dennys too.
Unfortunatly, it's still too far in the wrong direction for me. I'm actually located in Castaic next to Magic Mountain.

Well if anybody knows the scheduled time to leave Dennys I can make preparations to meet up with you guys when you pass Magic Mountain.

ON A DIFFERENT NOTE. (INSURANCE)
For any one concerned about getting insurance while at the track. I asked Speed Ventures about this. To paraphrase, they said that most insurance carriers won't cover you if you are racing but your carrier "might" cover you if you are attending "Driving School".

He also emphasized:
1) If you are running with a timer, you are racing.
2) If you paid for an instructor, Speed Ventures considers you to be a student of their driving school.
3) Check you insurance policy for details to see if you have even the slightest chance for coverage under these circumstances.

To boil it down. If you don't run with a timer and you pay for an instructor, there is a slim chance you will be covered by your insurance.

Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)
Ok folks, we are now T-minus 10 days before go for Buttonwillow ! ! !

Here's my usual pep-talk before the event. Please do take the time to review them:

What you should check (plz do this now and again the nite before):
- Brake Pads (Front and Rear) ... preferrably at >65%.
- Tire Tread ... above wear bar.
- Brake fluid level
- Clutch fluid level
- Power steering fluid level
- Engine coolant level
- Engine oil level
- Car in basic good health ... not making funny noises, etc.

What to bring? (don't freak if you don't have everything in the list ... use your common sense as only some are essential)
- Tech Sheet (filled out)
- Car Number (if you don't have one ... select one at Speed Venture's website)
- Helmet(s)
- Painter's (Blue) Masking Tape ... for paint protection and to assemble car number.
- Tool set (if you have any)
- Torque Wrench
- Hydraulic Jack and stands (could come in handy at times)
- A bottle of Engine Oil, Coolant, brake fluid.
- Windex
- Spare Tire
- Additional set of brake pads (if you have any)
- Driving Gloves (if you have sweaty palms)
- Mechanics Gloves
- Tire Pressure Gauge
- Portable Air pump
- Shop Towels
- Fold-up chairs/Canopy
- Camera Camcorder
- Cell Phone
- Drivers License
- Lots of iced water, soda and juice
- Snack/Fruit/Sack lunches
- Wallet/Money
- Sun Screen !!! (SPF 45+)

Finally, I just want to say ... let's take it EASY you're first time out. Know you're limits and stay under it until you've gotten a few events under your belt. There's nothing to prove other than to learn and have tons of FUN doing so Chances are you will be very intimidated as a newb. A selected few may even be surprised at how quickly they'll settle right in and be quite comfortable lapping around ... just don't get too carried away too soon.

That's all for now.

Not sure what you are referring to when you say, "Sylmar GTG". Is this a dif event than the track day? What I was referring to was the breakfast meet at Denny's before we truck on up to ButtonWillow. Anyway, see you there bro.

2 G or not 2 G, there's no question!

I think there may be a spot available since Gurgen isn't going. Clint?

Do you guys have any idea how far Newhall is from Temecula on a Friday night? I'm just wondering what time to leave my house.

Thanks,

Mike

its prob 2 hours give or take. If you're taking the 91 there, I will be on the way. I live in Anaheim hills, we can get together as well.

Oh man, that is a long way for sure. If you leave Thursday afternoon you might make it in time.

There will be some traffic given the simple fact that you have major miles to cover. You have our numbers, so if you are running late, just give one of us a call and we can wait for you.
