Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)

You register by going to www.speedventures.net
There is no cost to register, and you also need to pick a number for your car.
The event is not open to registration quite yet, but will be soon. They have maps of the track, tech inspection sheets to download and print up so you can complete them before the driver meeting, etc. And also some videos that you can watch of laps taken at the different race courses.

Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)

Will I be registering in a specific group with everyone else once it's open? Or will I just register on my own with the people I'm coming with and just show up with you guys?
Thanks a bunch

Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)

It appears they are experiencing some sort of technical difficulties w. the website. According to them, it should have been opened already ... yet I can't see it either. I will let everyone know once it's resolved.

*** Important Registration Information ****

Everyone *driving* will have to register for themself. Registration is free (as Eagle1 mentioned). Be certain to select Saturday, Oct 2nd ... when registration begins. Be certain you're in our sign-up list (here) to insure the proper discount is credited to you, as I have forwarded our names to Speed Ventures. If you or a friend would like to be added to the list either post here or PM me.

Remember, first timers are required to sign up for instructors ... unless you know of someone who is qualified enough to instruct. If you have already track a couple of times in the past, instruction isn't required but highly recommended. Your day will start off smoother that way. Once again, I have been asked to help instruct ... so, I can take up to two pupils for the day (I wouldn't mind having the 360 Modena guy )

Disregard the extra charge during registration for lap timing rental. You will not and should not be charged ... as long as you're in our list.

If at anytime you're confused ... feel free to ask for help here.

Clint,

When we sign up will we be discounted on the screen or when SpeedVentures physically charges our cards? Thanks.

Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)

You will see the normal price when you sign up. Speedventures has a list of people in this group, so they'll manually apply the discount for timing, etc.

So, if anyone's not in the list ... let me know. Keep an eye out on the CC bill just to be certain too. They do goof once in a while and is very good w. crediting back.

Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)

At last ... Registration is now OPEN!!!

It looks like we will be running the Clock-wise direction (better IMHO) and there will be 4 run groups to better manage traffics.

Follow the instructions:
1. If you don't already have an account with Speedventures, create one Here.
2. Select your car number if you haven't done so Here
3. Proceed to registration for Buttonwillow Here.
4. Be certain you have selected "Buttonwillow October-1" to begin.
5. Sign up for optional insturctor. This is mandatory for all first timers, unless accompanied by an experienced driver.
6. Be certain you have selected "Saturday Only - $170". [(You will only be charged $160)
7. Select "Yes - Rent a Transponder - $20" for timing. (no charge for us)

Again, it is imperative you guys sign up ASAP to insure timing device is reserved. Otherwise, there's no guarantee because they're expecting more people for Saturdays. You snooze you lose!

After you have confirmed sign up and payment. Please add youreself to the list at bottom so we know.

Paid List:
1. THX723 (Clint)
2.
3.

Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)

CLOCKWISE! Outstanding. That way is FAST because we get to come out of the loop and then hammer it through the chicane esses and into the straight flat out, then brake, turn 90 degrees and enter the front straight with good entry speed and zoom. Plus carry the speed through the Riverside turn down the back side and up to the hill.....Magic Mountain, stand aside. I am IN !! Are we running course layout #13?

Paid List:
1. THX723 (Clint)
2. Eagle1 (Ed)
3.

Signed up and ready to rock. Now I need to do the prep work and get some front race pads. Any suggestions Clint/Ed? I was thinking about ordering a pair of the Porterfield R4 pads.

Re: OCT-1 ... Open Track event (Buttonwillow)

Excellent. Glad to see you on board Ed

We'll be running configuration #14 ... no bus stop! That's a good thing for the most of us, but I was actually craving it ... wanting to attack that section
