Quick update - Shortblock replacement

Dropped my car at the dealer last fri. Got call today saying they were still working on it (something about machining some parts). Said it should be done by Monday.

Yes. Have a loaner since last Fri. My dealership is great about that.

Yeah I'm getting a loaner too. I'm hoping for an M but it'll prolly be a G37 sedan. When I took my car in the first time they gave me a loaner too.

I dropped my car off yesterday morning and my loaner turned out to me a '10 G37 Sedan. Man these things have some power!!!

I'm having them replace the clutch, spark plugs and do a fuel injector cleaning service on the car as well. Alls I have to pay for is the clutch and the spark plugs, they're doing the labor for free!!!

Hopefully I can pick my car up this afternoon or tomorrow.

How much for the clutch? I was quoted $2000 two years ago. That's crap. I got a JWT clutch pack and had it installed for $1200

$500 for the clutch kit and $60 for the throwout bearing. Labor is 8 hours, according to the dealership. But I figured since they're in there, I'd just have them replace it b/c it was needing it anyways.

Just checked and the JWT clutch is $485... so I'd just rather have OEM. I don't plan on doing major stuff to my G, at least right now.

4 months later!!!

so, just thought I'd share the saga that was my oil consumption issue....in a nutshell:
(started Nov, 2011)

1st stealership did a short block and butchered it completely. Cracked the head, leaking oil, etc, etc...

infiniti consumer affairs sent a Tech inspector

2nd dealership did a complete longblock in 3 days - runs like a top

whole process took 4 months , I now have the beauty seen in the photo below! yes, I need to clean my intake...

everyone is right in trying to get the longblock - they couldnt seal my timing cover, routed things wrong, and cracked the head (covered with JB weld!) , etc, etc - try for the longblock, its pretty too

Got a short block on mine last December.
No oil leaks, but not sure how to check if there are any problems...

Mine were pretty easy to spot....oil leaks, missing nuts/bolts, and cables routed wrong...plus a glob of JB on top of the head...

If I post a pic of my engine bay tonight can you help me spot anything wrong?

i'll try! but if you've had it since LAST december (10, or 11?) over a year, i wouldnt worry too much...however this past december - its worth checking....

one easy way is to drop the plastic cover on the bottom of car (bunch of 10mm bolts) and look for any oil spots on the cover, and also on the bottom of the block

I got it done Dec/2011.
I took the plastic tray off my car a while back because it won't stay on.
I'll start with checking for signs of oil leaking.

What parts of the engine should I remove besides the engine cover before taking pictures?

Did that include the clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, SS clutch hose, pivot bearing, and new pivot ball?
