You can purchase the warranty from the dealer I purchased one for my 2006 6mt directly from the dealer. It's paid for itself already.

When did you purchase the extended warranty (what year) and how many miles did the car have?

I would assume there is a cutoff point when you cant purchase the extended warranty anymore

Here is the Infiniti Elite Extended Protection Plan - Pre-Owned Vehicles.

I was able to purchase it for 10% down and the split the payments over a year.

Update: 720 miles on the new short block

The cars has been feeling strong and sounding good, still keeping it under 4k RPM I've manage to squeeze some fun in driving under the 4k limit.
I noticed when I got the car that there was a oily smell coming from under the car near the engine bay and slightly through the interior vents. I figured it would go away on its own. I noticed in the engine compartment there was some oil on the battery cover about the size of a quarter probably from funnel or something being placed there. What puzzled me was that it was not a burning oil smell but a HOT oil smell like when you remove your oil cap after driving the car.

This past weekend I decided to check my front wheel bearing they were fine my front tires are feathered but I can live with it now that I know what the deal is. I also removed the splash guard so that I could check to see where that damn oil smell was coming from.

Upon removing the cover I saw noticed a fair amount of oil and some antifreeze on the splash guard. There was no oil on the engine at all everything was clean, our engines get hot as hell during operation and I think the oil and antifreeze was getting slowly baked causing the smell. I cleaned the splash guard and used an engine degreaser on the engine and put her back together.

Once the degreaser smell went away after two days I noticed the hot oil/antifreeze smell is gone.

I checked the oil level today and it’s still very close to the H on the dipstick things are looking good so far.

Did my first OC test yesterday after about 730 miles since the oil change. They told me the car has burnt 0.7L of oil, they topped it up and told me to come back in another 1000km's. (I have a US vehicle living in Toronto Area).

I drive a 06 G35 Coupe 6MT with 50,000 miles.

Will update the next time I go in for a test.

Thought id share some updates: Infiniti agreed that my car is using oil like no other, after doing the OC test I drove 1300 miles returned it was 2qts low, had a conference call with Customer affairs and the service manager and Infiniti stated that they need to tear down my motor to determine WHY there is OC and depending on the issue I should receive a short or long block

The car is scheduled to be dropped off on the 26th of september the breakdown process should take a few weeks then a few days for Infiniti to go over the data

I will post back when I know more, as of right now im just wanting it all to be over with so I can drive my car again

Finally, it's been a year 3 months since i came in the stealership Erickson Infinity in Edmonton with the OC problem. The ex Service Manager there gave me hell of a run around back and forth, forth and back trying to not to give me new short block. I stuck around and with the help of BBB agency, i had my new short black replaced last week. I also had my worn out clutch changed and machined the flywheel while at it. The G now runs like brand new car. So responsive and smooth. Happy to ride my G again. Hope it's not burning oil again.

Hey..i got my new short block last week. I was told my the tech. that it's normal to smell burning oil for couple days when new short blocked is installed. so no worries there. I cant wait til 2k is over. only 500k now.urrgg.. oh..yah.. another thing. The tech told me not to down shifting.. put in neutral and ease it in. and don't change to synthetic oil.

an OCD condition checking the oil level everyday, multiple times a day

I am aware that some oil will be consumed during the break-in period. Staying under 4K RPM is no fun. I noticed that the new motor appears to build revs faster than before the motor swap.
I checked my oil level today the oil level was about half level@800 miles today. Hopefully this is normal...

The hot oil smell has returned, yesterday I was determined to find its source. I removed the splash guard again and noticed an oil drip stain on it. I took me a little while of digging around but I located the source. Its above the AC compressor up high buy where the dipstick goes in but its not the dipstick. I attached a photo looking from under the car upwards.
She's going back to the dealer today. Even with that leakage I'm not losing anywhere near as much oil when the engine was consuming oil.
It may be a gasket issue or something not torqued down enough hopefully.
Aside from the leak the car is feeling stronger and stronger as I put on more miles I'm almost at 1000 miles now on the new motor.
