More details about your car and situation? I'm really interested as to what the Nissan dealership could do for me.

They told me to contact Infiniti which I believe me and my dad are doing tomorrow...it's an 06, bought it last June from the dealer and there's 92k miles on it so I don't think its still in warranty...it's their engine defect, not a wear-and-tear or something I did to it...if they don't at least do halvies then I'm going to be a bit angry...I'll let you know what they say.

I've read about a dozen pages in this thread and want to confirm a couple of things.

The TSB is ONLY for 05-07 6mt to my 07at may be effected but is NOT covered officially by the TSB, right?

I could be eligible if I'm consuming but I will need to show consumption of 1qt per 1k miles, right?

My dealer want to charge me for the oil change but I've read that many on here have had the oil done for free while many other have had to pay. Does anyone have advice on getting the dealer to do free oil? Do any of you have names of dealerships I could reference who did your oil for free? I just bought my G35 from Carmax with new oil and don't want to pay for a change just to test.

Last, any other tips for me knowing this is an AT instead of an MT?

Thanks for all this information

^If you have no clutch pedal, you have an AT.

I'm pretty clear on the whole AT MT clutch pedal situation but thanks for tossing that out there just in case.

I also have a steering wheel which sort of implies it's a car.

What I was trying to clarify is that the TSB only applies to MT but that an AT long block can be replaced if consumption is 1qt per 1K, right?

The tsb only applies to the manual trans equipped model years '05-'06. What I've heard from the dealer doing OC testing on other models is customers pay for an oil change, then monitor for consumption. If there is extraordinary consumption (how much I don't know) then the customer must have the head torn apart to determine if it was due to owner negligence. If it is not the owner's fault then the cost is waved. Pictures are taken and sent to corporate and the engine swap process is started. They may also ask for records of maintenance. It's a bunch of BS if you ask me. Just make sure you're not consuming a ton of oil and always check at least every 1,000mi for starters.

I have a 07 G35 Coupe and just had my motor replaced (longblock) on this TSB. They also replaced my 6mt because of 2nd gear sycro. I also got a clutch assmy as well. Needless to say I am quite happy!

I was wondering did they replace my motor with another rev-up and is there a (code on the block) way I can tell?

Thanks guys.

question...if they knew I took it to the drag strip and ran it down the 1/4 mile 3 times would they that do anything to their decision of whether or not to replace it for me? Realize I'm out of warranty at 93,400 miles...diagnostic is being done on it this upcoming Saturday

The VVT covers are different looking compared to the non-revups. If yours look like below, you have a revup:

I see a stamp in the block upper right of crankshaft output. I need to check that out next time I'm under mine. I'll guess it's production codes - factory/date/etc.

There's a stamped serial number too:

I'll be more likely to refer folks there and buy another Infiniti.

V35 Skyline GT thank you kindly for taking the time to post those helpful pics. The invoice shows the correct part number I'll pop the hood tomorrow and confirm what you've posted.

Thank you again!

I have got my G back with the new short block.... the dealership recommended I take it easy and not go over 4k rpm, aka "break-in period" for the first 3000-3500 miles... are any of you doing that???
Also, I have heard/read different ideas on how the "break-in period" should be.
