Infiniti Rev-Up Oil Consumption TSB
oil
the dealership said that since my car is an automatic and not covered by the TSB then they would definitely need proof of oil changes. any idea on how to get around this crap?! I mean, it is the same engine right? same part number? just different transmissions right?
low mileage 06 can't be out of warranty, powertrain is 6 years 70k which would mean you bought your 06 before December 2004 and that you consider 70,001 low mileage

^I only know the customer care number, but get a file/case number when you first do talk with them regardless. It will help with (if necessary) future correspondences and if your building a case against Infiniti with the BBB or your Attorney for example (if it gets that stupid).
Asking for file/case number also sends a message that you're savy and mean business with Infiniti about this OC issue

Since Nissan has determined the problem is within the short block, MT or AT should not make a difference. They are the same block. The lower collector (intake) is the difference of an AT engine.
good point, so why doesnt infiniti expand the TSB to the AT g's?
I have the 04 6MT andf had an oil consumption porblem. Infiniti is giving me a new engine but it wasn't exactly that easy. They made me do an OC test twice because the first time they never sealed my dip stick, and I live 2 1/2 hours away. Had to drive there and back 5 times, not including it being towed twice.
They sent me home after the first OC test saying the oil level is okay. Two weeks later my low oil dash light comes on. Had it towed to the dealership. I thought that meant a new engine right there, but they just gave me an oil change, and made me run another 1k mile OC test because last time it wasn't sealed up, even though that was what they told me they did after sending me off the first time.
The second time I went back to check the oil, I have the service manager see with his own eyes how low the level was, this way they could start the process of getting a new engine, but no. They had to consult with Infiniti, and call me back with an answer in a few days. I went home pissed as usual. It took 3 days before them letting me know I am getting a new engine. Had it towed over there again and is now being prepped from the swap.
I never thought I would have to drive back and forth 3 times and have my car freakin towed twice by some guy missing his teeth. This whole experience has been very frustrating, and hope I never have to go back to Infiniti again after this new engine.

Just got home from picking up my car. The only things that Ive noticed so far is that my engine revs lower in all gears, my drivers side exhaust tip is sticking out further than the pass side, and my 5th gear is messed up, it wants to go beyond 5th like there is another gear above Reverse. Left a message with the dealer on the way home so Im expecting a call tomorrow.
Heres my old block... a lot more sludge and buildup than i expected.

Thanks for the pix. Always wondered what an oil burner look like internally. Wonder what your heads looked like...
-edit-
How many miles on that block and what was your OC rate...thanx.

Not sure, the car is parked in the garage for the winter. I drove home about 120 miles from the dealer and didnt hear/notice anything.
From the pix it looks like there's a lot of carbon build-up on the piston crowns, which could lead to higher compression and pinging, especially in hot weather. Sounds like my car

As V35 Skyline GT asked, how many miles was on the old engine and do you know how many miles per quart it consumed?
Do you have any pix of the heads? Sludge would be more easily noticed if it had formed there.
