So just to put it out there. I went to the dealer and the tech listened to the "tick" that I had. He looked me square in the eyes and said "thats the nature of the beast. That ticking you hear is a lifter". He said it would quiet down after a few oil changes. I think thats bull s!#t. So I asked about the warranty on the new motor they told me 12 months 12000 mi. (you had it right V35 Skyline GT) So we will see. I have 600 mi on her now and going to do a oil change this weekend and wait to see if anything breaks over the next year.

^You should not have a sticking lifter and/or a lifter out of adjustment from the get-go.

I see you're in NorCal. Take it to Beshoff if it's still ticking (they don't play BS games). Mention G35Driver. They'll take good care of you. They're well known in the NorCal section here

^ Brian is the GM, but don't think he's there on Saturdays (today). Do a search in NorCal section on 'Beshoff'...

Gentlemen, I had an engine blow in my M35x ostensibly due to oil consumption. I made a couple posts over on the NICO forum and got blasted by a few members and most notably one in particular. I realize my demeanor wass less than pleasant but, if you could, take a look at the attached link and tell me what you think. My mood was bad when I first posted about my $30,000 paperweight and got worse with some of the responses. Positive or negative, I would like to know your feelings.

It's entertaining to say the least and now I have a dead M35X.............anybody wanna buy it?

Yes.

No guarantees those rev-up VQ's won't use some oil either. Those VQ's are essentially the same revised VQ's used in warranty replacements. My 2008 replacement uses oil, but not as bad as my 2006 (built 11-2005) original did.

I'm personally not interested in other forum drama or drama in general, so didn't read link...no offense.

I too was upset when I discovered my $40+K out the door (bought it new in 2006) was an oil drinker day one and continuing after break-in period. Long wait for 'first' TSB release and dealer games with that TSB. Finally got my replacement which is ok, but was expecting a permanent non-OC fix which it's not.

Sorry to hear what happened to your non-revup VQ M35, which to my knowledge doesn't have a TSB for OC issues.

So wait, how many times did you have to fail the OC test? Did the dealer ask for maintenance receipts and did you actually end up having to provide them? I know a few pages back you mentioned those issues. Good luck on your engine swap!

Failed it once. Got the oil change when they started documenting everything, went back at 1000 miles, was 1mm away from failing, went back at 2000 miles and failed. They never said anything about receipts or records, I even told them I change my own oil with full synthetic. She called me 2 days later telling me Infiniti approved the block replacement.
