Infiniti Rev-Up Oil Consumption TSB
Started my EOC test at BESHOFF
Just back from Beshoff. My first visit to Infiniti service centre. I was impressed.
Got the engine oil and transmission fluid changed. I was asked to come back after 1000 miles.

Make sure you listen to it and it should not sounds like it needs head work. See this thread and make sure you get all service records and especially oil changes. They should be changing oil every 3000 miles or atleast topping it off when it burns it off. Always check it out in person and drive it before you purchase it. Take it to infiniti and the usual things with that mileage is flushing fluids, changing belts, plugs, airfilter, oil change, compression rod bushing, lower control arm busshing, tires, brakes. Do all your research and make sure you get the CD009 tranny which is the last revision with beefed up syncro's to reduce grinding in gears.

I got my engine replace jan 2009. After installation of the new engine the car comsume oil but the service advisor told me it was due to the break in period. So now @ 20K miles the engine is still consuming oil. After the intial service done last month I have put 1k miles on my car. And the oil dip stick from the F mark dropped about 3/16 of an inch which falls in the ok zone of the TSB.
I contacted Infiniti Redwood City and talked to the service advisor Benny to start a new oil consumption test. I spoke with ben and was surprised he told me it takes 50K (yes 50,000) miles for the new engine to break in. I literally laughed at him and told him I never heard of this before. He advise I talk to his foreman in the shop about it if I didnt believe him. To make a long story short Im going to the stealership saturday to start my consumption test. I just want to get something started in their system just in case it starts to consume more than it should as per the TSB. I will keep you all posted.

^Glad you laughed in his face about that 50K break-in
Mine took ~7K to calm down to it's consistant OC rate of .75-1qt every 5K miles. 35K on my replacement now and still the same OC. Gee can't wait for the 50K mark when my OC will stop w00t w00t LOL!!

hey i have a 04 6mt and im not under warranty anymore can i still do the OC test? do i have to pay for the oil change and stuff? and i have all the bolt-ons will they give me trouble about it? and i dont have receipt of my past oil changes. Is there a TSB for 03-04 sedans? thanks for the help!
The last time I went to the dealer the rep stated to me they had a couple pre '05 models being torn down due to excessive oil consumption. IIRC the rep told me you have to pay for an oil change in order to do an OC test. If you fail convincingly twice they will tear the engine down and inspect it for signs of neglect. They take pics and everything and report it to Nissan whom they say make the final call. If it is deemed your at fault you have to pay the labor for having the teardown and nothing else is to be done. It sounds kind of screwed up if you ask me. I don't believe there's a TSB for the sedans related to OC. You can probably do a refined search to confirm it.

And you're out of warranty which means Infiniti will not pay a dime. Same with revups in this threads TSB when their power-train warranty expires.
Hi guys! I've posted here before regarding my issue. The slime ***** at the dealership have been BS'ing me around because it was modified. I really need a straigt answer from someone here who's had their modified engine replaced. Please let me know. Thanks.

^All I had was a cat-back exhaust. I took the other stuff off before OC testing just in case.
Many stories here of ppl with their mods. Some same experience as you presently, some got their VQ's replaced easier than me...really depends on the Dealer. This thread is looong, but their stories are in here with their experiences/actions/out-comes. Hope someone chimes in for you never-the-less.
Here's another looong OC thread and years of what they went through: http://www.my350z.com/forum/engine-a...iscussion.html
There's the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act which is a US Federal Law: http://www.bing.com/search?q=magnuso...ox&Form=IE8SRC

I hope others respond so I have better data to present. Thanks again.
v2 & Technosquare
Hi,
Just wanted to throw this question out there, I was wondering...
For all the folks who got a new v2 (me included) and also had mods including Technosquare tune, did you need to get a retune?
Did the dealer touch your ECU? I wish there was a way to confirm I still had my ecu tune (rev to 8k?). I'm debugging the awesome p1273 code for a LONG time
Thanks!
