Infiniti Rev-Up Oil Consumption TSB
#1531
Update on my issue,
the inifini here in Edmonton said that my engine is consuming more oil that it should, and they do not replace the motor, however they replace the lower block. I am not sure how many parts they replace, but it should be a complete overhaul of the engine.
They have submitted the data to infiniti and are waiting for a confirmation to work on the engine.

Need some quick advice..
I bought the car about 3 weeks ago, its an 06 MT Coupe. Ive only put 300 miles on it but the car has 49k. I have all previous service history of oil changes being done on about 4-5k intervals.
Previous owner uses conventional. I pulled my dipstick to check the level and its registering half on the hash marks.. So about .5 ct low?
Its been just over 3k miles since last oil change.. I want to get OC test and oil changed at dealership but should I use synthetic? Should I buy a stock intake and swap it on?
My cars only mods are the Z tube and stillen air filter/box.. Carb legal.
I really dont wanna have oc issues and have a claim denied due to an intake..

Awesome thank you guys! Yea previous owner was first owner, very knowledgeable about the car, he said they'll consume oil if you beat on the car early in its life because the piston rings wont seat properly.. So it will be an unreliable oil drinker! But Im happy now.

From the Technical and Consumer Information of the 2003 G35 Owner's Manual, Page 10-5... and from the 2004 and 2005 G35 Owner's Manual, page 9-5: (I added bold for emphasis)
ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER
RECOMMENDATION
Selecting the correct oil
It is essential to choose the correct quality, and
viscosity oil to ensure satisfactory engine life
and performance. INFINITI recommends the
use of a low friction oil (energy conserving oil)
in order to improve fuel economy and conserve
energy. Oils which do not have the
specified quality label should not be used as
they could cause engine damage.
Only those engine oils with the American Petroleum
Institute (API) certification mark on the
front of the container should be used. This type
of oil supersedes the existing API SG, SH, or
SJ and Energy Conserving I & II categories.
If you cannot find engine oil with the API
certification mark, use an API grade SG/SH,
Energy Conserving I & II or API grade SJ or
SL, Energy conserving oil. An oil with a single
designation SG or SH, or in combination with
other categories (for example, SG/CC or
SG/CD) may also be used if one with the API
certification mark cannot be found. An ILSAC
grade GF-I, GF-II, GF-III oil can also be used.
INFINITI recommends mineral based oils.
These oils must however, meet the API quality
and SAE viscosity ratings specified for your
vehicle.

Most Synths are Group III dino based anyway, so maybe that's why they dropped that statement for 2006-07.
Anyway, thanks for that on 03-05's.

Just did an oil change after 3000 miles and notice that only about 2 quarts of oil drained out. I plan to take it to the dealer and start the oil consumption test, but the car has a JWT pop charger, 5/16 plenum spacer, and test pipes. Anyone think they will give me **** because of the engine mods?
