Infiniti Rev-Up Oil Consumption TSB
They would have to PROVE that it caused the problem. More than likely they wouldn't even notice it.
That's why my lifters were most likely knocking.
3,700 miles since the last oil change (200 miles over), however it's been 7 months (I barely drive my car far).
Even though it's going to be a pain in the ***, I decided I'm going to put the stock exhaust and stock plenum back before taking it to Infiniti. I just don't want to risk anything and deal with any BS about the mods.
Also don't want to lose the mrev if they decide to swap the long block.
How many of you still had the oil consumption problem after the motor swap and how many of you didn't and it was fine?
Thanks!
I bought my 05 sedan 6mt with 71k on it and it had the motor replaced at 65K under the TSB and i have a feeling it still have the problem, I switched from penzoil to castrol (i only used Penzoil the one time becasue it was on sale, i actually hate Penzoil but i though id give them a shot) I always run full synthetic. anyway im monitoring the oil level now hoping it was just a fluke.
has anyone head of someone getting the motor replaced twice? even though it was past the warranty? does the new engine come with a warranty?
Thanks

I had strup headers, exotic speed exhaust, megan y pipe, stillen z tube, jwt pop charger, mrev 2 and a 1/2 spacer and infiniti still approved my claim.
The reason is because the exhaust cannot cause a car to burn oil.
As for the intake, stuff, I think their main concern is the block itself. As long as the owner's car is stated in the TSB, that means that the problem is a known issue and they must test it.
Another thing is that no dealer in the world can legally "void" your warranty for ANY modifications. Infiniti can only "deny" your claim due to specific reasons but they also need to "prove" the modification is the cause. It cant be a "probable" cause either. They must prove that the modification is definitely the cause of the oil consumption.
I know all of this is because I went through all the bs. Worse case is that if someone takes their car with modifications to Infiniti for the oil consumption test and the dealership says that they cant do it because of the mods, all the owner has to do is put the car back to stock then call Infiniti USA corporate and explain that:
- Your car is listed in the TSB which is a known issue.
- You have been mistreated by the dealer and are very VERY unhappy with the service.
- demand a different dealership to inspect it
- demand them to put on papaer in detail why your claim has been denied and tell them to show the proof that the modification was the cause.
- tell them that if they dont test it even though your car is listed in the tsb, you will sue the dealer and corporate for any further damages that is caused by a faulty motor.
Here's how my case was handled : I went to Infiniti of Marin in California, dropped off my car for 2 weeks, dont know why it took so long. Constantly kept calling to see if my car was ready and they said no. I drove the loaner car back to them to get a car wash. I had like 3 dollars worth of meter coins in the car but when the car came back from the car wash, the car wash guys emptied it out! So I complained to the service advisor and the manager. I simply explained and emphasized that my money was stolen by their guys. Had a little stupid verbal disagreement and the service manager said "Well if that's the case, I cant work on your car any further, your car had turbo". I told them that "it did not have turbo" and they said that it wasnt their decision to deny my claim but it was Infiniti themselves. So next day I called Infiniti and they told me that the dealer's finding was that my car had turbo. So I filed a complaint about what happened at the dealership and demanded a whole bunch of crap including a retest and a audit of the dealership's service. Corporate told me that it was ok for me to get it retested and another dealership so I went to Concord in California. Initiated the oil consumption test and in about a month and a half went back to check and the short block was on the way.
About a month after my short block was put in by Concord, the guys at Marin was still trolling about the result of my complaint, they called corporate to audit Concord which I LOLed about for days. Thats how disrespectful Marin is. If they cant face what they did, then they shouldnt even operate the business at all.
The bottom line is that, nobody had proof that my car was turbo'd. And obviously my car was listed in the TSB and they were not about to spend couple grand paying their guys to rip my motor apart just to attempt to look for proof that my engine was turbo'd.
oh btw. did i mention? DO NOT GO TO INFINITI OF MARIN IN CALIFORNIA!
anyone else that need my advice can ask me through PM as well.

-a replacement long block is still the same oil burning rev up motor... only new.. (step backwards)
-however, as Nissan aparently looked more closly at the problem it was in fact the rings and the bottom end design.
-The new issued short blocks are a TOTAL REDESIGN and made from a new manufacture..
Thats what my service advisor told me after already having two short blocks. The reason for the short blocks was because my first block was not torqued down properly apparently. Im not claiming any of these "facts" this is just my understanding of what my service advisior told me.
And my second new short block was basically me telling Nissan to FUUUU because i sucked the oil out just so that they would lose $ on their end. Regardless this has been a HUGE ordeal and Im still not happy with the way ive been treated at Crest Infiniti. None the less my engine bay is all fuked up basically and some bolts ive noticed off the batt were stripped. Hope everything was installed right... who knows...

05-06 should have been HR motors.. Nuff said
Nissan wont give out long blocks for a reason and if they would just explain it would cause a whole lot of less drama. The reason being

07 + G35 sedans have HR motors

this is what ive heard too and the new block i feel is soo much stronger like more low-end torque, my guy at pearson infiniti (who happens to be a 12+ year master tech) even said that it felt stronger and was the quickest he has drove that was stock, idk if hes just telling me that but my butt dyno agrees LMAO
