hello guys,

i have a 05 6mt coupe with 96k miles, no oil consumption issues, *knock on wood*

Can the oil consumption issue come up later in the car's life? or is it safe to say i wont have this issue.

thx

picked up car today after short block replacement

Had the G37 sedan for almost two weeks. As good a car that is I really missed my coupe. I only drove it from dealership to office so far. Feels smoother Don't know if thats in my head (probably cause of the oil change and what not - always feel nicer after new oil change). I had some what of a knock in my engine so I'll check. Set my tach to 3000 rev light. I didn't realize our cars had so much low end torqe. I always like to rev it higher to hear the sweet exhaust anways. Will follow the break in and keep it low for the next 1000 miles.

Anyways I am wondering if there is anything I should be on the look out for...

Unhappy rattling noise in cabin after engine swap

So got bad news. I drove the car yesterday and it seemed fine till I hit the highway. It seems there is a rattle in the car in 6th geat at 65mph. It feels like it is comming from the dash. Also I noticed that the ashtray holder doesn't line-up perfectly.

Do they have to open the center console\dash to do the engine swap??? It seems something wasn't put back together?

They have to pull the transmission out so if the have to undo a bracket or something for the shifter then theyd have to pull the center console apart.

I just left the dealer where my car is and it was in a million pieces!

I'm looking forward to getting in back tomorrow afternoon bc it's gonna be like brand new! New clutch, spark plugs, diff fluid. He's installing my test pipes and going to fix my exhaust where the mufflers don't line up right too!!! Woo hoo!!!!

one easy way is to drop the plastic cover on the bottom of car (bunch of 10mm bolts) and look for any oil spots on the cover, and also on the bottom of the block
What parts of the engine do you need pictures of.
Looks like there is a little bit of oil leaking, all that oil is since the last week of Dec/2011

^I'm with you on this one. I would take it back to the dealer asap for any kind of fluid leak.

The tech that did the work on my car did a great job and went above and beyond by hooking me up with some free services. Last night on my way home from work, my gravel guard flipped down and got messed up on the interstate and I had just gotten it like 2 months ago. If it wasn't for the Infiniti tech taking such good care of me, I would be taking it back to the dealer for them to replace it but he's going to get me one ordered at cost.

I just found out that my 06 coupe failed the OC test. My dealer informed me that they have started the process to approval for the new engine. The lady told me that its probably gonna be a long block but after reading everything here I'd be surprised if that's the case.

I'm sort of bummed out cuz of all the problems people have reported with the replacements. For the people who got replacements within the last year or so, how does the engine feel after the break-in period?

Should be a short block and it took about a week for them to order my motor.

Mine feels nice and strong but it's in been about 200 miles since it was replaced.

Engine feels great.
When I failed OC test they told me I'd get a longblock.
Then when I came back in for the labor once the parts came in, they told me then that I'll be getting a short block since that's what it says to give me on the TSB.

do you have to have a warranty to get your engine replaced?

Thanks DGrantG and buzzking for the replies. Yea I'm expecting a short block regardless of what they say. Its good to hear that the rebuilt engines are doing well. The odometer reading won't change after the replacement right?

The Powertrain warranty covers the engine, which is 6 years from the date of the original purchase or 70k miles, whichever comes first; unless you have extended warranty.

Naw the odometer doesn't change.

As for the warranty, they told me it was 6/60 for the power train.
