I have an 05 with 50k and the dealer wanted to use my extended warranty company to claim it. They said to authorize a tare down to find the mechanical failure before they authorized a long block replacement. Are you still on the Infiniti warranty plan ?

I changed my oil a few weeks ago, drove 2k miles, checked it again, and luckily its at the same position. I guess I got lucky and got an 06 6mt coupe that doesnt burn oil...knock on wood.

I guess I dodged this bullet. I almost made a trip to buy an 06 g35 6mt with nav for a good price. the title had lemon law but I researched hard and found that the dealer replaced the engine and I figured out that was why it was lemioned, but after reading g I c some people were still burning oil on their second and thirD engines!! luckily the credit union doesn't finance lemon titles. so now what should I look for, 2004-2005 and 07+??? avoid any 300hp rev up engines???

hertz I'd imagine u should be ok by now

'05 have the rev-up engine and most likely to consume oil, like mine.

Also as far as reading the vin in the TSB, what does the asterisk in the vin number signify? I know the lastsix are the sequence number..

AND how fool proof is this vin point for defect?

You will not know until you start verifying the oil at specific intervals eg 1000 miles.

So maybe I should stick to something with a service/warranty plan, or someone who knows abour the issue.

extended warranty is a positive, since you will have to rebuild your engine like me.
