^ thats the only chance... just lol im not trying to go that deep.... emailed nisformance and haltech lets see what happens.
Hey did you ever find a solution for your early 2003 G35 ECU? I'm currently in the same boat...I have an APS twin turbo set up and trying to get my ECU tuned with adjustable profiles (i.e. ECO mode, High boost mode, etc.).
My local dyno tuning shop tried getting my ECU flashed through UpRev, but they couldn't do it for my early 2003 G35 ECU.
The 03' grey connector and early 04' black connector are narrow band primary O2 ECU's. They can be tuned with some freeware crap but I wouldn't spend the time tuning them since they are old school. Convert to a 04.5' up harness and ecu that has wideband targeting and use UpRev for best results. You will have a lot better tune and be happy that you did.
Pulling up the old thread to see if anyone got any answers for this?!?! I read through the whole thing and it seems no one pulled the trigger on swapping the whole engine harness and ecu?!?!
Well I went ahead and stupidly did that to see if it would work.
I have swapped the engine, engine harness, ecu, and transmission from an 04 350z....
Everything seemed to hook up perfectly aside from the oil sensor and 02 which I had swapped as well but aside from that practically flawless fit. (Note trans plugs where different but I swapped the trans so it fits).
Here is the thing:
It turns over but won't start.
Looks to be the security system but when I got someone to try and program the key it wouldn't read the ecu.
One weird thing is that the radiator fans don't shut off unless I remove the battery. (Could this mean even though everything hooks up the wiring is different?)
Would I have to change the cluster?
Also if I was to succeed what features would be missing since the original ecu controls more features other than engine?
Has anyone succeeded with this and just didn't speak up?? If so any help is appreciated.
This normally means the Ecu is fried, do u know if it worked before?
Yeah but what do you need a standalone for? Unless you need it for boost applications where you need extra safeties like boost cut and whatnot then you're better off with an Uprev tune. Not to mention it's only about 1/4 the cost and you get to keep all your other car stuff intact with no dash lights.

yeah I’ll be tuning it myself and I’ll be using twin turbos
Ahh, check out which ECM you have in this thread (it's the one in the middle with the black housing). Make sure it's harness/plug is the same in the Haltech video.
It takes literally 5 minutes to look and see which ECU you have. If you have the one with the big green checkmark next to it, PM me and get an Uprev tuner kit (I can save you some money). Gives you full control over everything and there are thousands of boosted VQs tuned with Uprev.
Yes, you can repin the chassis harness to the newer harness style and use a newer ECM, you will need to have it programmed and paired to the BCM and NATS as well before the car will start.
This option is a lot more viable now that there are plenty of donor cars sitting in wrecking yards.
FSM has the ECM pinout, section EC - Engine Controls
