What is the general consensus on non stock tire sizes??

I have used the search function and it seems the most common options are:

235/50/18 (F)
255/45/18 (R)

225/45/18 (F)
245/40/18 (R)

245/45/18 all around.

I am looking for some suggestion from folks who have used one or more of these combos.

I'm running 235/50/18 on the front, and 255/45/18 on the rear. Fills out the rear wheels better, and gives you WAY more brands and tires from which to choose.

Have a couple of threads around on this.

I'm running 245/45/18 on 8.5" rims all around on my X and have been very pleased with the performance and ride.
They are Michelin Pilot Sport All Seasons and they are on my summer rims.

I did run 255/40/18 all around but my speedo was out too much (below)

I'm running 245-45-18's all around with no problems. It seems to reduce the understeer a bit.

I have been running 245/45 front and 255/45 back on the stock 18 in. sport rims and happy with that setup. BF Goodrich Supersport A/S, with about 18k on them now. Be glad to give feedback on these tires if anyone interested, but dont want to hijack the thread. Now time for another

would 265 be too wide for the stock sport rims in the rear?

Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics. I like them, they're quiet and have great traction, and seem to be lasting WAY longer. They feel a little weird in corners though, they stick like nobody's business (tested this again today ), but they seem to flex a bit more than the Bridgestones. Am going to experiment with a bit higher tire pressure.

They're freakin' awesome in the rain, that's one of the reasons I bought them. Can corroborate Tire Rack's test, wet traction is very close to dry.
