This comment has been haunting me.

I've been sitting on the new BlueBat overlays for about a year now. I came home from golfing yesterday afternoon to an empty house.
Perfect time for an install... had them done in about 90 minutes.

Are your paddles in yet?

Anyone know the trick to installing without removing the wheel? I'm retarded and stripped the screws.

I tried doing it w/o removing the wheel and am stuck at getting the bottom trim off. its too big to manuver... unless theres a trick to it?

I got it to work... def a PITA. If anyone else is forced to do install w/o removing the steering columns, i've got one tip: the top half of the wheel has the most room to work with. You'll be moving the wheel around to get to the screws and trims.

and in regards to removing the original bottom trim, the hardest part IMO. I moved the wheel so that it was positioned to give me the max room to work with on the RIGHT side. I pulled the right side off first and the rest will come off easily.

2009 G37X coupe. Just dissected my dash, no plugs for the paddles...
Makes sense as it was not an option, but I was optimistic. Now to hope I can put the damn steering wheels on straight...and not have the airbag blow my face off....
sigh...

I bought my t-30 tamper-proof bit at sears, it was only a couple of bucks. Hope that helps.

Installed paddles over the weekend and everything was a breeze. This simple mod has opened up a whole new driving style for me. +1 for being able to downshift while still in drive. Thanks to the OP for the easy to follow DIY guide.

Well, after dicking around for a couple weeks finally installed it on my 2009 G37X coupe. super easy and works great. No codes, no issues, no crooked steering wheel. another big thanks to the OP.
Best,
Chris

Is it necessary to disconnect the battery? If i am installing without removing the steering wheel, do i still need the T 30 Torquesscrew?
