I read the whole thread but might have missed something. Is the wiring included with the shifters? Is this available as a complete kit from Riverside? Did you most of you guys email Tony or just call? Would it be cheaper to get the parts OEM parts online?

Thanks,
NEWB

- T-30 tamper-proof bit
- 10mm socket
- 19mm socket w/ extension
- Socket wrench for the above
- Phillip screwdriver
- 2 additional coarse thread #8 or #6 screws x 1" (match original on trim)
- a small,fine flat head screw driver
- two beers

Here is what you'll need, minus a tiny little flathead screwdriver. (Mine grew feet and ran away)
You'll need it for popping out the little caps on the steering column and it also comes in handy for popping open the air bag wiring harness clips.
Everything else is here.
Make sure your T30 torx bit is a tamper proof... meaning it has the little hole in the head.... see the closeup.
I bought a set at Sears for about $30-

Beers are optional but they were recommended and who am I to argue.

Call Tony... Jason at Riverside went out of his way and got this package put together for us. Tony is continuing where Jason left off.
I doubt you'd find a better price elsewhere and honestly... the guys at Riverside are awesome to us, let's give them the business.

Tony is super busy. If you email him, expect a 2-3 wait on a reply.
He answers his calls if you need immediate assistance.

You need no additional wiring harnesses.
Everything you need is already in the column... these are simply plug-and-play.
Literally!

If you just want to get the T30 Torx bit and not the whole set, just find a local industrial tool shop and get the bit for around $2.

Thumbs up

I really love this Forum. Nothing like having at least a hundred guys/gals reading the threads and willing to take the time to respond.

Thanks!

LOL, nice pics. Of course choice of beers may varies

BTW, was going to buy the Torx bit(s) at Sears but found a small set for cheaper at Pepboys.

You'd laugh your a$$ off if you had any idea how long I contemplated the choice of beer.
You almost got Negra Modelo... awesome stuff but most have no idea what it is!

Sometimes that decision is extremely important.

And yes, Negra Modelo is a great beer, for coming from South of the border.

Help!!!

Hey fellas,

I just installed the paddle shifters using this amazing DIY and they work great. However, when I got on the highway the next day I noticed that to go in a straight line my steering wheel was turned a good 15-25 degrees to the right. Did I seriously mess something up, or do I just need to have an alignment? I did struggle quite a bit with the 19 mm nut and had use a significant amount of force to get it off. I'm really worried now and I hope someone out there can give me some advise. I was trying to save some money and install the shifters myself and now I might end up spending more money just to fix this problem. Anyone else had a similar experience?

Sorry for the long post.

did you make sure to:

-center the the steering wheel before you started?
-align the steering wheel to the tick mark on the steering wheel bolt?
-center the clockspring to the 12 o'clock position?

This was my biggest fear doing this project so I was very carefull to keep things align. Just take it apart again and reinstall the whell, should not take you long.

After listening to all the stories both good and bad I was scared to do it myself but anyway got it done and it works!....Thanks everyone (esp Lemodular) for putting this up together....if anyone near zip 98501 needs help with installation let me know I can hook you up with a car shop.
