DIY: Installing Sport paddles
Don't mean to raise this thread from the grave, but my '08 Base Sedan was NOT pre-wired for the paddle shifters.
This has been the transaction from HELL... first, Riverside sent me the wrong trim kit, then I returned the entire kit to them and they sent me the correct trim pieces only... I finally got the entire kit from them correctly, and I find out that my G35 is not pre-wired.... FML.

wow, this really is an easy mod.
I have an 08 G35x sedan, no nav, no premium and it WAS prewired (I peeked before I ordered).
Rick at Riverside had them in stock - call them directly - don't bother with ebay. The ebay auction would have added shipping cost to the $245. I tried the "obo" option and couldn't get them for less - a waste of time.
It was a little difficult to remove the large lower steering column housing. After unscrewing everything(including the samll cover and bracket underneath) and seperating the lower housing from the upper trim, turn the wheel 180 deg from neutral (it is now upside down), push the front of the lower away from you (towards the dash) and downward to disengage the small lip at the front of the housing from the back of the steering wheel. It will then drop down and can be pulled toward you to remove. NO brute force or bending required.
The paddles bolt up easily using the nut (top mount) and the bolt (rear mount).
The new lower housing has 2 mounting holes that secure it to plastic guides on the column. I used a #10 x 3/4" sheet metal screw ( I think a pan head (screw), self drilling screw would also work). I found some auto interior screws at NAPA, but I think the H@mer ones would also work. The plastic guide on the column is not threaded - so you want a course thread. You need a fairly flat head to fit behind the overlapping side housings, so don't get the hex heads. I thing using these extra 2 screws allows for a tighter, more secure installation. Expect to fiddle with the side housings a bit to get the all tabs lined up and seams tight.
All you need is a #2 phillips (long handle), a 10 mm socket with extension and a straight blade screwdriver to pop off the electrical connector and the column adjuster.
A BIG thanks to all who have previously posted - you guys made this a really easy install.
Feel free to email if you need some help or a picture.
