DIY: Clean your throttle bodies
#451
yea ive read them ''/
i dunno if this is anything, but i put my hear, where my pcv valve is, and i hear a vacuuming noise. i took out the hose and reinserted it. and i also hear it on the right side next to the tubes right before the throttle body. i shoved all those pipes as far as they could go.
I mean... if it is these hoses, it would explain my idle problem with it reving up and down.
Are these sounds normal? just seems weird i hear them from both sides.

it will take more time for you to round up the tools needed than to do the cleaning. Yes there are people that have not had any issues after cleaning. me personally i have. my engine light came on, i did the relearning procedures nothing was working finally, i unplugged the actually Throttle body harness instead of the battery. Let it sit over night started it up did the procedure one more time and everything is back running smooth.

like i said before iv done it many times with NO issues most of the time while at times i have had to do the relearn procedure on some cars even though i follow the same procedure each car seems to react differently, but to date every car iv been able to perform the relearn successfully though it took more than just a few tries at times.
But at the end of the day, do at your own risk!!

I can perform the idle air relearn from memory now
Anyway, whilst i can't see it making a difference, i might unplug my TB over night and perform the relearn again. I don't think it will change it's current behavior (learns and sets fine, but forgets as soon as the engine stops) As i've had the battery off for 24 hrs, but still, worth a try at this point.

No that's the only thing that did work for me. Its a 50/50 that you will have problems, give it a shot just try not to open your butterfly over and over when cleaning.

^ yup, the whole point is to clean the sides/edges of the plate and the TB to get rid of gunk so that the plate does not stick and air passes through freely when the car is idling and the plate is barely open, of course cleaning the plate itself is also needed but not the main objective is to clean out the edges.
