Triptronic Issue?

Triptronic Issue?
Hey guys
So I was driving the car in manual mode today and it automatically went into D mode. I moved the shifter back over to D and then back over to DS but nothing happened... Turned the car off and on, DS started working again however it didn't last long and went back to D. Has anyone had this problem? I was over on myg37 and found a couple ppl with the same issue and read it may be a sensor however it was never confirmed.
Would something like this be covered under the power train warranty?
2008 G35 sedan with 22000miles.
Thank you

If that doesnt work out then chekc out ebay and you can buy the entire shifter assembly between ~$50- $125 and swap yourself or local mechanic for ~$100-200. Most dealers will replace the entire assembly anyways rather than just the module

UPDATE
Went to talk to my local dealer today.
Just wanted to let you know they did cover mine under powertrain although they were slightly hesitant at first. I think this is going to be a dealer to dealer thing, seems to be a grey area. Thankful that our local dealer has a really nice service adviser who understood that logically a shifter assembly should be part of the powertrain warranty.
