Resetting ECU after every NA mod???

Whats everyones stand on this, I used to reset my ecu in my lexus all the time after a mod, but I havent in the g35 yet.

I always hear two different sides of the story. Just wondering what everyone else does. Shouldnt the ecu just relearn everything anyway from the car breathing better? Is it really necessary to reset the ecu?

I never reset my ECU after exhaust intallation. I figure if it's gonna learn, it will adjust based on the most recent data.

i think its everyones personal preference, if you reset the ECU the computer just learns the mods changes quicker and you get faster yet harsher results as the computer starts to re-leran the basics. However, if you do not reset it will still modify according to your mod but might take a little while...

I think it re-learns much quicker. I let Alan drive my car around when we were doing the exhaust comparisons and I can easily tell the car was reving much higher when I got it back after his high speed passes. Everything went back to normal on the way back home.

make sure to reset the ECU when you do mods like splitters, rims, and suspension.

good one

at least from the chevy sbc world, I think the pcm reset/relearn was mainly for the idle, drivability and partial throttle operation. One or two blasts WOT through 4 gears and it's probably a done deal as far as a max capable dyno number with no tune. I'd actually be more worried about long term trims, like 3 weeks out and a couple of tanks. Lots of "untuned" cars will richen the mixture up over time and possibly create lower numbers than you began with. lower thermostat, reprogrammed fans and a basic tune would go a long ways to maintaining whatever you do get out of something like a cai mod.
