I am starting to look for new wheels, I want to make my OEM 17s winter tires and get something a bit more agressive, but not over the top. I dont want to worry about rubbing or adjusting the camber / rolling the fenders either, and I would like staggered if possible. Does anybody have any ideas where I should be looking?

xxX9 +30 and xxX10 +43ish is a good place to start.
But roll the fenders, no point not to.

I've read that it's easier for the tire to fall off the bead on a 30 series. I know a Nankang 225/30 tire stretches a lot on a 9.5 cuz I've done it before and decided to go up a 35 series. Now I want the extra clearance I had with the 30; think I can achieve a decent stretch with a Nankang 235/30 on 9.5? Or should I do 225/30 on a larger tire like generals to get a similar result? What brand tire is your buddy running? Thanks.

AKA 245/35 is the same stretch as 265/30
So the 235/30 will still be a little more of a stretch than the 225/35 and you will increase the upper clearance like you want.
