Is rebarelling a rim or building your own 3-piece as easy as it seems? Inner + outer barrel + center, torque the nuts and seal the barrels= done? I really want to build my own

 

As far as I know, yea. But I'm not completely familiar with it myself. Hit up 4DGS or Captain Supreme Sausage. Chris/Captain Sausage has built/rebuilt several sets himself, so I know he's familiar with it. 3 pc wheels can be time consuming, especially if they have tons of bolts/rivets.

 

haha they are all usually 40 bolts right?? doesn't seem like it would take more than like an hour to tighten them all down

Tighten them, torque them once all cross torqued then torque them to their final torque setting.

It's not as easy as it sounds, but it's not really that hard.

The hard part is guessing the seal. Once you've silconed the lip/barrel there is no way to confirm you've made a perfect seal until you mount a tire.

An no, they aren't all 40 bolt it differs from company to company. Not to mention the PCD is different with pretty much all companies.

Just like cars have 5x114.3 or 5x100, wheel manufactures have a PCD for their faces/lips.

 

PCD stands for pitch circle diameter and is the diameter of a circle drawn through the center of your wheel's bolt holes. P.C.D. is measured in millimeters and also indicate the number of studs or bolts the wheel will have. Ours are 5x114.3. Volkswagen Alloy Wheels are usually either 4x100: i.e. 4 bolt holes drilled through the centre of an imaginary 100mm circle, or 5x100: for VR6s, GTis and MK4s, etc.

 

how hard is it to run 20x11 15 all the way around? what size tires?

im only dropped 1.5" and looking for a nice setup. most likely wont be square but just curious to what it takes to fit the 11s up front.

you can fit them no problem. a 255/35 is fine. not really aggressive enough to warrant a 245/35, but would be fine too.

 

What drew didn't mention is they will look retarded.

Wheel/Tire gurus, your help is greatly appreciated.

I got my wheels used and they came mounted with tires. I have a g35 coupe with 19x10 +9 fronts 19x11 +13 rears Tires*225/40 fronts 245/40 rears.

I'm as low as possible on my BC coilovers and my fenders are rolled front and rear.

What other tire options can I go with? I'm not really a fan of stretched tires, especially not a major stretch but I know with my set up I'll need some stretch. I don't want extreme negative camber either I have SPC rear camber/toe kit and plan on getting the SPL front camber arms. What tire sizes do you guys reccomend? What's the biggest I can go? I'm considering getting fenders pulled if it gives me enough room for bigger tires. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
