265 is what I run on my track wheels, perfect for 8.5 IMO. Anything bigger than that though you'll get some bulge or hang.

FederalG, please don't leave your volks on through the winter, that's just stupid. I agree with lights out sizing on that one.

 

humm interesting on tire setup... Always thought about going wider from my 255's good to know its been track test proven

 

We only get a few inches in winter (with the exception of this winter) and I plan on buying an AWD beater for next winter. Volks won't be here til Spring anyway. Thnx for the advice guys.

dropped on skunk2 1.3 in front 1.0 in rear. i have some 18x8 +35 offset wheels. im wondering if i can run 245/45/18 without rubbing? fenders are not rolled i really do not want to roll them. any feedback would be much appreciated.

 

Is it a coupe or sedan? Also why do you not want to roll the fenders?

Okie dokie. I did some searching... not a lot admittedly but couldn't find anything.

I have an 03 Coupe with stock 18's with 225/45 and 245/45s.
I now have new wheels that are 19x8.5 +20mm offset. Stern ST-1 "Beast"
Looking for Tires to go on them for my car and have lots of stories.
A) Local tire place says 225/40 for front, 245/40 for rear.
B) TireRack says 245/35 F, 275/35 R
C) DiscountTireDirect says 255/35 F, 275/35 R

Which do you think? At the same time I'll ask about hub rings. I got poly rings with the wheels, should I go ahead and order aluminum?

And finally I'm going between 3 tires. Hankook Ventus, Kuhmo Ecsta, Yokohoma S.drive. Opinions?

I don't race my car. I drive mostly in town and on interstate. I may drive a bit more spirited than the average driver I like the power the G has and I like to take corners faster than I should but nothing crazy. I would more prefer good wet traction and low noise and comfortable ride than superb off the line traction, extreme corner handling etc.

Not looking for opinions on my wheels or driving preferences, etc etc but looking for some informed opinions on tire sizes etc. Thanks in advance.

I'd suggest take them back and get a refund. your wheels will be so sunken in, it wont look like you bought new wheels, more like upgraded oem wheels.

Holy 12 page thread Batman! Not reading all this I assure you. '06 sedan 5AT with no suspension mods and non-sport. I want to ditch the 17's. I thought about 19's but am worried about making the ride too harsh. I love how smooth this suspension handles so far. Not interested to do "hellaflush" but I would like to move the offset out a bit to widen the stance. I like the deep lip look - not too deep. What offset am I looking for? Also not interested to stagger the fitment. Are there any reputable and affordable wheel manufacturers out there that can make a relatively lightweight (not "track" lightweight, just not "big wheel" heavy) and attractive wheel that can compliment OB?

I'm a little confused about the Super Low Disc option though. My 05 coupe doesn't have Brembos. How can I find out if the Super Low Disc option will clear the OEM brakes?

I'm running 19 by 8" with a 30 offset all round. With 245 40 19 tires, it sits right at the edge with no rolling of the fenderwells.
