Question Snow tire question?

I have an 06 G35 6MT coupe with the OE 19’s. I want to go -1 for snow tires. Does anyone know if the VDC or the TCS will be affected by put the 18” snow tires on? Is it ok to do this? I know speedometer and odometer reading errors will be negligible. Thanks.

Just get tires with similar diameters and you'll be fine.

I checked Tire Rack for snows and they said there are no snow tires available for my model. That is why I’m looking to buy 18’s.

drop to a 18 inches rim but with a taller sidewall/profile to get the same outside wheel size.

anyway, dont run on 19 inches in snow, cost way too much and will have very poor traction. I run on 18 inches blizak in Quebec Canada and the traction is not very good, tire is still too wide in snow.

I think you only need to be concerned with the wheels clearing the brakes, and of course that the overall diameter of the tires are the same as with your 19s - you might even be able to get 17s for the winter. With winters, you generally want to go for smaller and more narrow wheels so the tires go through the snow, not over it.

Don't know if you know how to calculate overall tire diameter or not, so I'll post it.

Width(mm) / 25.4(mm/In) x 2 x Aspect Ratio (%) + wheel diameter(In)

Ie for my front tires, I have 225/45/18s (width in mm/sidewall height as percent of width/size of wheel in inches). That would be

225 / 25.4 x 2 x .45 + 18 = 25.97

Thanks for the help guys. I found a website that has a tire size calculator http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCal...bmit&reset=yes
I didn’t consider going to 17’s. I live in the New York Metro area and I don’t think we get as nearly as much snow as you guys up in Canada. I appreciate the advice.

With 17s you can do:
225/50 f 225/55 r
225/50 f 235/50 r
With 18s you can do:
225/45 f 245/45 r

Just got off the phone with The Tire Rack, the guy there recommended going to 17’s. He recommended the Blizzak LM-22; 225/50HR17 for the front and 235/50HR17 for the rear. Thanks for the help guys, you all saved me some money.

I've had 225/45/18 snow tires all around on without any problems with VDC. Btw, isn't it the wrong season for snow tires? I didn't think it was still snowing in NY?

buy some OEM 17's from a 350z.

i found some for $350 with tires and sold the tires for $75.
Then get some dunlops off of Tire rack for < $100 each.
