Bit of Help Please...
Hi all,
JJ here. I'm new and in the market for a good USED G35 or G37. I found a really nice '08 6MT with low miles...for a very good price. It has everything but the factory nav system. I really wanted the factory nav system and I'm wondering if the factory system can be retro-fitted into the vehicle. If not, does anyone here have experience with an equal or better aftermarket system that could be fitted?
The cost I can get the vehicle for is low enough that I can easily justify the expense of a nav system.
Thanks in advance for any input....

What everyone said is pretty much it. Either find another vehicle with NAV and hope it is not beat up, high miles or high price. The other option is to try to lower price on the car even lower by letting seller know NAV is a big deal breaker. Factory Nav sucks and even my Garmin sucks. The map is 1 yr old and missing a lot of crap. I have to update evey year to account for construction and detours. Imagine how much infiniti would love to charge you for a simple disc to update. I would go with an aftermarket double din that has a built in HDD for nav and media slots for sd cards. That is much better than stock, cheaper than stock and can be updated for a lot less $$$.

One thing after market doesn't give you is the back up camera. If the back up camera is no big deal, then look at the Passport IQ it combines radar detector, bluetooth and navi.
Personally, apart from the updating issue, I think the nav that comes in the car is one of the best out there. Since you are looking at an 08 you'd have to update the unit anyway and that is about $200, an after market can be between $300 and $600 for a good one.
