Great write up... I ran into some problems and will address them incase others need it.

I used an install edge LOC which works great.

I had it wired exactly as the OP had. I scraped the paint off the ground by the factory amp/bluetooth/XM Box. Used a bolt and a nut, but was getting an intermittent gound. A little more scraping fixed that problem.

Once I had constant power at the amp I was getting no sound from the sub.

I tried many thing but could not figure out the problem. This morning I decided to replace the plastic in line splicers with butt connectors, and everything works great.

I suggest soldering or using the butt connectors instead of the quick and easy splice. It takes a little longer but provides a better connection.

I am running a JL 500.1 with a 10W7 in a Zenclosure.

Great. I'd love to do this mod, but I'd be looking for more punch.

hi, thanks for the write up man its great!
Im actually doing this tomorrow. i have everything i need folowing your instructions. the only thing i didnt do was have an rca converter which i couldnt find. Im going to tap in to the back speakers(6x9s) Questionim not that audio savvy so sorry)
Should i tap into them before they go into the bose amp or does it even matter?? ive read a couple of posts where people are sayin that tapping into the wires after the bose amp will somehow filter some bass out? That its better to tap into them before the amp.

This is my setup:
MTX tc4001
kicker 10" CompVR 07CVR104 dual coil
thanks !!!!!!!

forgot to ask:
if i wanted to connect with the rca instead of using the rear speaker signal, could i just cut any regular RCA cable and connect it somehow to the speaker wires before they go into the amp? has anyone tried this succesfully? does the RCA converter have more than just 2 wires?

thanks again

im using a install edge LOC from best buy. I wired everything the same way, except im not getting any sound from my sub. I get power through my amp, though. i used those wire easy taps and for the brown wires. I just left them alone.

What am i doing wrong?

You don't need an LOC if you are tapping the audio signal before it enters the Bose amp.

He means you don't have to use that converter. All you need is a good RCA cable laying around your house. Cut that in HALF or how ever long you need it and then splice each pair of wire (use red for R and use white for L)..

To make that more understandable, when you cut the RCA, you'll see the two copper wires in the RED and two copper wires in the WHITE. From the Red, you join the negative to pink and the positive to blue (once again this is for your right output amp). From the White, you join the negative to purple and the positive to teal (this should go into your left output amp).. And the remote is the blue/silver one.

All the wires that need to be touched are on one side of the row. I forget if it was the top or bottom but if you see which wire to splice, thats the row you are going to use! Don't touch the other row at all

I hope that wasn't too confusing. Get rid of the LOC and just do it this way.

alright. I'll give this a try. to clarify. These are the same wires on the BLue Bose input connector right?
