Aftermarket Head Unit with Factory Bose System

Hey guys,

Does anybody have an aftermarket head unit or dvd touchscreen hooked to their factory bose system. Or has anybody heard a G with this setup. I'm thinking about installing either a DD or pioneer deh-p800prs headunit in my G coupe. I'm on a budget right now so this will be the first upgrade to my sound system journey. However, I heard that there is a huge amount of annoying hiss in the speakers when this is done. Can anybody confirm this, and if anybody knows if there is a way to prevent this hiss. Any input would be appreciated thanks!

It has been done a lot. Read some posts in this section and you will see what needs to be done.

The answer is yes, I am currently running the JVC KW-NX7000 Double Din w/ the factory Bose system and it requires a special adapter. The adapter costed me $130 CAD. I'm in Canada so I'm not sure how much it'll cost you over there. There is also a harness you need to get but I think it was real cheap, like $15-20 at the most.

The only adapter you need is the Metra 70-7551 to use the RCA outputs to feed the signal to the Bose amp.

My pioneer F90 has RCA outs, so would I even need a harness? Can i just wire the RCA directly to the Bose inputs?

The Bose amp does not have RCA inputs. That is why you need the Metra 70-7551.

yeah I just realized it. I'm really pissed off now because I got my Avic F90BT installed by circuit city, and i have this faint hissing noise coming from my speakers when there is no output. I think they used regular harness, instead of the one with the RCA plugs....the worst part is, Pioneer gives you a harness with RCA outs for the F90, but they didn't give it back to me after the install...
