To be clear. If I buy the Nis2 do I need to buy the factory stereo harness as well? Or is the Nis2 all I need? Because when I look at a picture of the Nis2 it only has 2 connectors. But my factory harness has 4?

The other connectors on your radio are for climate control, and the plug with wires for the factory accessories - steering wheel control, bluetooth, navigation, satellite. Only two are used for radio power and speaker output.

So yeah, all you need is the NIS2. The shopping list doesn't lie.

Great thanks man. I was just wondering if you think it would be a decent idea to go for the iDatalink ADS-MSW instead of the Metra (Crutchfield says it works with my 03 G35) since the Datalink has the ability for assigning secondary functions?

Doesn't look like it does anything the ASWC-1 does, and costs almost twice as much. You can assign secondary functions on the ASWC-1 easily with their free app and a phone/tablet that supports USB on-the-go right there in the car, or I'm pretty sure their computer-based app does the same.

Hey Wrathernut,
Ive been reading up on this and im trying to figure some things out before I attempt to install my radio. First off, I picked up a Pioneer AVH-X3600BHS double din, JDM kit, Metra Axxess ASWC-1, and the PAC ROEM-NIS2.
Im debating on getting a rear view camera, I dont quite understand the connections for this. I was thinking the Clarion CC510 camera. Looking at the picture on Crutchfield ( http://www.crutchfield.com/p_020CC51...ion-CC510.html ) would I connect the red wire to power and the black to ground, plug the RCA into the receiver and then run a wire from the the reverse wire at the receiver to the one in the kick board?

Thanks
Orioles

Yeah, that's pretty much it. The reverse signal switches the stereo to the backup camera video input, and you can usually power the camera from the same power that lights up the reverse lights, that was it's not running when it isn't being used.

Thank you for all the info!!

So basically 1-4 on the first post plus the trim ring will cover everything for a Bose system? Do I need some kind of bypass wire if I want the DVD player to work while I'm driving?

My dd actually came with something that looks similar to that trim ring.

If your radio came with one, you shouldn't need another.

Having the DVD player work while driving is illegal in many states, I don't recommend doing it.

I wasn't sure if it was the same thing, cause it's a little different than the one you posted. But I assume it serves the same purpose..

Half my car is illegal in many states lol, but I hear ya man. Of course it would be stupid & dangerous to watch it while driving, but I do have some music tribute DVDs I wouldn't mind having the option of listening to... Regardless, thanks for the thread, very helpful.

If at somepoint I wanted to change out the bose amp and put in a new amp + sub. would I have to change the harness to the 70-7550? or is there a way to go around that

It depends on the headunit. Many have dedicated subwoofer channels so you'd just have to run a new RCA cable from the headunit to the amplifier. The wiring recommendation for the ROEM-NIS2 is to use the speaker-level outputs, so you would still have the line-level RCA outputs to run to the aftermarket amplifier, even if you don't have a dedicated subwoofer output. With either of those options, you'd still have the factory speakers run from the bose amp and the aftermarket sub powered by the aftermarket amp.
