Also thinking about these:
Kenwood KDCX598
Pioneer DEH-6600BT
Pioneer X6600BS

I am no expert on anything, only had the car for about a month or so.
Will changing the stereo affect its compatibility with the bose system (or whatever its called i sound dumb)?
The bose system is not the best of worlds but I can live with it just looking for a nice way to link phones. The grom or other adapters did not win me over because of the wires. I HATE wires. I like the idea of the usb port on the stereo.

Yeah, the Bose is mostly only compatible with itself. There are adapters and interfaces, but the speakers suck too. Best thing to do it just rip it out and start over. Haha

What DD kit do you have?

Haha I'm just wondering what dash kit you have. JDM or Metra. Its irrelevant, as they both work. Just wondering.

But, yeah, if you wanna use the new stereo with the Bose equipment you need a PAC-ROEM NIS2 interface thingie. Otherwise you can just bypass the amp and use a standard Nissan stereo harness (metra 70-7550) and run the speakers with the stereo itself.

If you bypass the amp its recommended that you switch out the speakers.

Yeah, I definitely think replacing the radio is preferable. I'd go with a double-din non-touchscreen one if you're going for a budget install.

The ~$120 Pioneer FH-X700BT is about the same price as those ones, but has the bigger buttons and display. (and 4.5 stars with about 900 reviews )

If you remove the center armrest console, and unscrew the tray the underside, you can run the wires between the tray and main console trim without making any new holes in it - there's a gap between them large enough for wires, but I don't think you can shove either terminal at the end of the cable through it.

Do you have any single din suggestions? Compatible with the bose? I dont want to change the speakers and anything as of now. Will replacing the radio affect sound quality positively or negatively?

Hey guys,

I just bought the JDM DD non-navi for my 05 coupe along with a Pioneer AVIC-5000NEX headunit.

I havent attempted to install yet, but just to check the fitment of the the two, it looks like the AVIC -5000NEX is a little less wide and naybe an inch or two less in length, The screen is a 6.1 inch and I'm just assuming the JDM DD space is around 7 inches.

What would be my best option so I have a very clean, flush Headunit. I read about the SCOSHE aftermarket trim but I want to know if anyone has better opinions or suggestions.

Thanks,

Chris

I really don't follow single-din radios. Honestly, so long as you get a reputable brand, sound quality's going to be limited by your compressed audio source - mp3, pandora - rather than the headunit itself. Throw in road and wind noise and you're unlikely to be able to tell any two radios apart. Go with whatever has the features and design you want. Unless you're doing a competition audio setup where big cost = more points, your money is better spent on better speakers and sound deadening than the headunit. If you were powering the speakers from the headunit, the answer may be different, but most every JVC, Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, Clarion are going to sound the same when hooked up to an external amplifier.

All aftermarket radios are equally (un)compatible with the bose amp. Just use the same ROEM-NIS2 to keep it working.

Most people report improved sound quality after getting rid of the bose headunit and using the ROEM-NIS2 with an aftermarket radio, a few report the opposite.

Flush mounting requires drilling new holes. See the common install issues section of the first page - or just follow this direct link: https://g35driver.com/forums/6546538-post1052.html

Filling the gap (again, direct link: https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...ml#post6546537) - there's absolutely nothing special about the scosche trim. The reason I recommend it is that it's cheap, should fit around the complete radio when needed without any internal cutting, and can be cut extremely easily to fill the gap on the top, bottom, or sides. Any textured black plastic can be used to fill the gap. Another option that I've used in the past is black felt. Black felt is extremely cheap, but if more than a thin amount is visible, it usually doesn't look as professional. The good part is that if you have a motorized face, you can kind of drape it behind the moving face parts, or if it's an extremely small gap, you can just wedge it between the two components to prevent squeaking of parts and keep you from seeing through the gap.

This is the main harness of my Metra 70-7550. Did they really forget a ground wire? This was sealed in original packaging and there's no black wire. Am I missing something?Name: IMG_20141021_124140.jpg

Edit: nvm, I just read the back of the package. "If black wire is not present, ground radio to vehicle chassis". How do I do that? Haha

Just take the black wire from the new radio's harness and attach it (along with the other ground wires listed in my wiring chart) and secure it to a screw that goes into the metal of the chassis. The metal radio bracket works as a chassis ground.
