Wrathernaut's Double-Din Installation FAQ, Shopping and Resource List
Come up to DC and do my install! I'll buy the the beer!
Wrathernaut... Thank you so much. I didnt expect the 7551 to sound as good as it does. Thanks for your live support, everything turned out great. The only thing is I have to manually program the aswc to "preset up" instead of the unoccupied power button pioneer doesnt let you have the option for. Ill post pics tomorrow in the daylight

Glad it worked out well. I don't really listen to radio enough to bother with a preset up/down button, I prefer having a mute button right there on the steering wheel.
Great thread Wrathernaut. I got an 04 with bose and nav used your shopping list and ordered everything i needed. Just waiting on the jdm kit should be in tomorrow plan on installing everything this upcoming weekend. Hoping everything goes well theres alot of useful info on this thread
shawn, thanks to the info on this thread your install will be a walk in the park

Well, all manufacturer's "Best" receivers all have GPS, so that question is like "What the best supermodel with an ugly rack".
But for a very good one without GPS, I'd say Pioneer AVH-3300BT or Pioneer AVH-4300DVD.

little help
just did an install on my 04 coupe bose/navi/duel climate using the shopping list provided. everything went smoothly and looks great. nice to find out i only live 10 minutes from grubbs to get the jdm kit for navi. also found the thread about my climate control. my bad for not looking hard enough.

Thanks for the detailed write up, answerd alot of Q's for me.
I do have a quick question tho, I sure this has been asked but dont got time to go over 19 pages... I got an 04 w/o nav. can i use the stock HVAC controls with the metra kit or do i have to use those ugly rubber ones?
Edit: look like its possible... is it hard work tho?

I will probably go with the AVH 4300DVD and deal with the ugly rack. SThe supermodel is out of my price range.

No, you can't use the metra kit with JDM controls.
