ASWC is the better choice... It programs itself, what else can you ask it to do???

Unless your headunit includes a trim ring, you'll need the scosche one.

You should also get an amp, new speakers, a sub, a sub enclosure and sound deadening.

Just ordered! I love this forum!!! I couldn't imagine finding any better information at the tip of my fingers. Thanks Wrathernaut, JZ, etc.

I already have $1000 in sound deadening (which took me 2 full days to install) but well worth the investment. My 03.5 sedan had more rattles than you could imagine before the dynamat ..... but it is much better now, i put in 2 JL 10w3v3 subs in a JL box with a JL 500/1 so far. I want to upgrade to the 750/1HD amp. I am still in the infant stages of deciding what component speakers I want, but will probably go with the 300/4 JL HD amp.

I should get my AVIC-930BT on Monday evening and will attempt to install on Thursday next week. Wish me luck I will need it

P.S. I hope you are all up late Thursday night to check my posts for any help that I may need

I will definitely post pics though when it is all completed.

Maybe not up late thursday, but early enough Friday, at least when you factor in the time zones.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge- I'm a M35 Stagea owner down under, which has the Bose stereo and Nav unit (same as the G35) with the same power issues with the radio and hvac.... this thread has inspired me to rip the bose out and put a proper hu in!

Just need to find people who can ship stuff to Oz.... Amazon are a bit precious about it....

How long should this process take on average?

If you've removed your HU before, it should be about 1.5- 2 hrs and thats taking your time to do everything right.

Finished my install

I finally finished my install, and I think it turned out pretty good. I used the willow color JDM buttons for the AC (PITA) and did the dual AC mod. It was much more work than I initially thought being a newbie and all ... but the sense of satisfaction is high.

No other pics yet, and yes I used the DD trim ring.

The only problem I have is that the touch screen takes a while to become responsive. (up to 5 min, should be less than 15 seconds) I am having a local stereo shop take a look at it next weekend.

Attn Wrathernaut,
I wish I found this forum a week earlier!! My installer bought Metra Dash Kit and now my stock nav can't slide up.. and no display at all too... I'm going back to sit and talk with him about this on Monday.
I read the whole thread and found out I will need JDM kit. But, here's my question, how do they connect the stock nav to work? Is it just plug in? Or do we need some wiring modification?
Thanks!!
