Quote: Where did you get the trim piece? Did it come with the D1? My eclipse dd did not come with trim and I can not find a piece to even modify. Can you help? Thanks! GT
The AVIC-D1 comes c/w trim.
I don't think it would work for other HU.

Have a look, there's a couple of threads about using a Kenwood trim piece.

FWIW, I went through that too.
The only way is to drill new mouting holes.

I blocked into place in the bracket & marked one hole on each side.
I then did a dry fit again using the one new hole then marked & drilled the others.

Bit of a PITA but the final OEM look is worth it.

Thanks for the reply, that's what I figured. I'm going out of town later this week so I don't have time to get it perfect at the moment. Right now I have the trim piece under the cover and it doesn't look bad, but I think I'll be happier when it's flush. We'll see how it goes when I get back...

On a side note, this weekend should be a good test for the nav, since I'll be driving about a thousand miles round trip to a place I've never been.

BlackonBlackG35, that is SO CLEAN!!!

Thas exactly what I was picturing before I found your thread. Would you happen to know if the head unit alone would work with the stock amp and speakers?

Where is the stock amp for the 05's with Premium Package?

Yes it will work. The stock amp is located next to your spare tire in the trunk.

Hey!, awesome set up bro, looks so clean and convinient. I have a question though, i just finished setting up my system, and i wanted to also put my control in the ashtray, so i can flip it open and close. how the hell did you get it in there and wired? did you have to drill the back of the panel? i want to do exactly what you did there, only problem im having is figureing out how i would be able to get the wire connected to that through the back, if you could give some detailed directions on how you did it, i would love you forever ~

Auto econ is the A/C controller.

ALL controls work the same as b4 DDIN change
Nothing to do with the D1

very clean install, remove the pioneer logo and you could mistake it for OEM. Good job!

Question on Pioneer D1 Double Din Conversion on 03 Coupe
When you are doing the conversion, do you really need to replace the AC Controller, If yes then why would you have to.And how much easier is it to do on an 03 Coupe. What did you use to play the DVD's. Does this Void any Factory Warranty if installed. Also I was looking on other forums, and it looked like you need to do some soldering, because of the dual climate is this true for 03 Coupe.
I want to know this becuase I am in the process of buy a D1 but if it's a pain in the butt, I don't think I am going to do it. So please enlighten me so I don't change my mind becuase It looks awesome.

This is because the AC controller shares a circuit board with the stereo if I'm not mistaken. But yeah, its along those lines.

Quote: How to watch video and operate NAV while driving:
_______________________________________________

Hopefully you didn't use every wire on the Pioneer wire harness. Find the wire you didn't use, and just pull it out of the harness.

I used the auto mute lead wire. After you pull it out, you will see that the wire has a connector on the end like this...

There is 1 empty slot on the harness next to the ground wire.

Insert this wire into that slot. You should feel it "click" into place...

Ground this wire and the E-brake wire and you're good to go!!

When you say ground the wires, what does that mean? Will a stereo shop do this for me?
