Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

Ok here is situation, I bought the diode and have the part I ordered, but the stero install store I visited refuse to install for me. Dang, I guess I have to install, and I have no soldering kit but willing to buy one from radioshock or something, but is there anyone who have picture step by step install instruction?(including changing diode from the blue wire to prevent "double click and door locks back" situation?? Or should I have to find some other auto body shop??
I am in a Seattle and I really want this to work right~
Any help will be appreciated.

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

Not all units need to have the diode changed. Only about 1/10 or so. Install is pretty simple. You should be able to find a stereo shop to install it, but they will probably have you sign a waiver saying they arn't responsible for any damages to either the module or car (standard operating procedure with outside equimpment).

Like I said, the install is simple, but if you have no install experiance you might want to try and find a friend who can help. It might be hard to find a place to install the module, as the car is a $35,000 car that will intimidate most installers.

If you need help along the way feel free to contact me via PM and I'll help you out everyway I can.

Good luck,

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

Kevin,

Is it possible that these guys are "re-enabling" the door lock function by tripple clicking the door-lock-button on the OEM remote (or else pumping the door lock button when they exit the car)?

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

Ron and TheDriver,

I believe the problem is not actually shutting the auto-locking off in the first place. Some people are getting in the car, turning on the ignition, pushing the lock button three times and then shutting the ignition off. Without opening the door they are turning the ignition back on and the doors don't relock (because RAP was never shut off). So, now they are thinking the autolocking is shut off, but it really isn't.

Here is the proper auto-lock disabling routine:

1. Open drivers door and keep open for entire sequence
2. Turn on ignition
3. Wait for doors to auto-lock
4. After auto-lock press 'LOCK' button three times within 5 seconds (leave about .5 seconds between presses)
5. Turn off ignition (with drivers door still open)
6. Turn ignition back on and check to make sure doors do not lock

Thats it. These instructions are a little more detailed and address most of the issues people have been having with enable/disabling the locking feature.

Good to hear from you again Ron,
Thanks!

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

OK, I have NOT been following this thread. I just ordered my "window roll up" thing-a-ma-bob. I mailed the check to you this morning and you should be getting it in a couple of days.

Any way, is there a simple run down on what this module does? I'm seeing posts about "bad diodes", doors locking, etc...

Is there any way I will know (in advance) that I'm getting a "good" unit? Either way, I've mailed the check and probably included way too much for shipping, but have instructed KPierson to just buy beer with the left over cash.

One suggestion, on your website, include the shipping charge to the most expensive place in the continental US and just charge everyone this amount (and post that amount on your website). You'll be providing valuable information so that people can buy the product "on the spot" w/o having to e-mail you and ask questions about shipping costs, etc... Just a thought.

Oh yeah, do you have any of these in stock and ready to ship out or will I be waiting 16 weeks and 1 day like I did with the JIC Y-Pipe?

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

Mmmmmm...... Beer.........

We do have a standard shipping fee on our website. It is NOT set to the most expensive, as sometimes it costs us more to ship then we charge, but in other cases it costs us less then we charge to ship. I believe its 6.99 or 7.99 to ship, and shipping should have been added to the price when you 'checkout.' I'll have our webmaster look into this to see if we can make it more obvious to people who pay by check (I know it adds it all up for PayPal users).

The 'bad' diodie issue may be solved, but it may not be, only time will tell. With so few units being 'bad' (1 of 10 roughly) it is hard to diagnose if the problem is actual bad diodes or if the diodes are being damaged during installation (too much heat when soldering).

The version 2 boards that we are on now use a different diode, and this diode is actually on the circuit board instead of being soldered inline with the wiring. I have had NO issues at all with the new boards, but of course 'I' had no issues with the last board either.

The window-up module adds the ability to raise the windows of the G35 by pressing the 'LOCK' button twice within two seconds, when the car's ignition is off. After you issue the 'Windows Up' command you can press the 'LOCK' button a third time to stop them. This is very useful for venting the windows and for when cats stick thier heads in the way of the moving window. Also, the module has the ability to 'auto-lock' the doors. Due to the RAP system however, auto-unlock is NOT availible. This feature is programmable via remote and is shipped in the 'off' state. It will also default to the 'off' state whenever power is killed to the unit (battery discconects). The auto-lock feature locks the doors 6 seconds after the igntion is turned on, and then is completely inactive until the car is shut off (RAP shutoff too) and then turned back on.

Any other questions please feel free to ask,

Neffster,

I just ran through the site and placed a 'check' order. You are very correct, it is hard to see what the actual shipping price is. It is not included in the confirmation Email or anything....
You can find the shipping price by going to the products page and clicking on the product you are interested in. I will see that this is fixed ASAP.

Thanks!

I'm in the club!

Ordered mine today, after doing a random check of your website; I didn't know they were ready yet! Can't wait to install it, then show it off.

Cheers,

Mike

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

I just changed out the diode and haven't had time to really sit and check out how things are working. What I did notice after reading through your post of the auto-lock disabling routine, is that with my drivers door open if I hit the lock button it will lock and then immediately unlock. This is with the ignition in the on position.

I don't know if it will auto-lock with the door open I haven't tried that. It does auto-lock with the door closed of course.

more to follow later....

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

It technically should autolock with the door open, but the ECU won't let you lock your keys in the ignition. I haven't fully figured out the auto-unlock that is biult into the G. Sometimes if you try to lock the doors with the keys in the ignition it won't let you, sometimes it will. Anyway, the auto-unlocking performed by the ECU won't affect the programming at all. Just make sure you hit it 3 lock three times within 5 seconds of the doors autolocking.

On a side note, if you disconnect power to the module for 30 seconds it should default back to the 'off' position. You can disconnect power at either the battery terminal or by disconnecting the red wire going to the module.

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

gawd i read all 50 pages of this thread and it took me about 2 and a half hours.... i was that interested in the progress of the window up mod. Today is my bday and i was thinking of making someone order me this as a present I think that i am going to wait for a little bit until all of the kinks are worked out. I kept reading and reading hoping that it would get to a point where there were like 0% (or less lol ) occurance of problems... but i guess u arent QUITE there yet... although it seems it is VERY close. I also do not own a soldering iron and would like to use wire taps.... is that possible? I can solder and could use one at school (i know the tech teacher well) but school doesnt start up until august...

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

50 pages. wow. i only have 5. change your setting to show 99 posts per page.

as for havin all the kinks worked out. i got one that is on the new boards and have not had a problem with it yet. there are about 5 or so of the new ones out there and i dont think anyone is having problems with them. the next batch that will go out will have these new boards. for your 0% problems i feel that we have reached it with the new boards, but i cant garantee that it is 100% tru until someone with one of the new boards comes up with a problem. its highly doubtful that will happen though.

wire taps can be used without a problem. i used them on my car and reds car. just make sure you have botht he red and blue ones cause some of the wires are different sizes.

if you have a birthday coming up, i would say order away.

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

red did you get your new one yet? you put it in? you should be able to put it in without takin the door panel back off. but with all that foam tape you put on not sure if you can even get to the wires anymore. i would say just cut the old one out and use connectors to connect the wires. instead of tappin all of them again. but make sure you dont cut them all at once like i did a while ago or you will fry the old one.

I have 50 page also... and I have been participating since like page 6.... I haven't had a single problem with the new board, and Dan hasn't either, but, I won't be suprised if someone somewhere has another problem. For the record, anyone who has problems has been sent a new board to try out.
