Clunking noise after spring install

I just finished installing 350z H-techs and when I went for the test drive, the front right wheel makes clunking noises. I have no idea what it could be. Everything is tightened correctly..double checked that.

Any ideas?

Also might need a little lubrication.

shock could be blown, bottoming out. Maybe have happened when lowering springs makes shock bottom out more. A little grease your never hurt as mentioned above. My brother installed a VERY USED set of JIC-coilovers on his beater Sc300 and one happened to be blown and make a clunking noise, he didnt know and had to remove.

Yes, greasing the new springs can help with a clunk. Same thing happened when I got my brand new Eibachs. Had a bit of a clunk every now and again. Greased it up, no more clunk.

i guess thats one way to remedy a spring that wasn't properly aligned onto
the mounts when installed. ive ran prokits, s-techs, no noise either one. no grease needed.

Are u on factory shocks? Sedan or coupe? sports or non sports?

Here is what a 350Z shock looks like compared to a G35 sedan sport shock. Notice the 350z shock is much shorter and thicker.

That might be true but he did say it was coming from the front.

Interesting info though. I just did my rear shocks on my G using Konis that were originally on a Z. They looked like the same length. I didn't measure though

I second. Did it to me. It's not the torque on the nut. When you loosen it you may spin the shaft when you think you are only loosening the nut. There is a allen head in the end of the shaft that you won't see unless you are looking for it. Tighten the shaft up with an allen key and then torque the nut. I'd bet money you will fix the clunk

problem fixed

i am running 350z h-techs on factory shocks. found out the noise was coming from the strut bearing not being fully torqued. does anyone have a better way of tightening it? the passenger one was torqued with no problem but when i proceeded to do the driver side, it spun freely and was difficult to torque.

i will also look into applying lube just in case

I know this is an old post, but this post + advanced search for "clunking noise (titles only)" = fixed my issue this morning. I love this site....

Small story... installed springs last week, completed job 100% (or so I thought), fast forward to today...experienced weird "clunking noise" mostly during decel over bumps. Hopped on here lickity split... after reading this thread, it jogged my memory to my passenger side and how I remembered I didnt tighten the endlink properly... i just tightened the nut and didnt put the allen key in the shaft.

VOILA!!! PRESTO CHANGE-O FIXED-O!!!!!
