did you ever find you’re problem in having the same issue
2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe Base with 314,800+ miles--Two weeks ago I attempted to move my car out of the driveway but the ABS, SLIP and VDC OFF lights came on and I could not **** out of park. Turn the car off and after checking fuses, I found the brake fuse blown. I replaced it and turned the car back on. All three lights were off but as soon as I stepped on the brake, the fuse blew again and the three lights came back on. Disconnected both switches at the brake pedal to inspect for any damage. Disconnected the battery for about 30 minutes. After reconnecting the plugs and the battery and replacing the fuse, turned the ignition on and all was well. Lights turned off, brake lights worked again and shifted out of park without issues. Next morning, as I was leaving for work, stepped on the brake to shift out of park and within a second all three lights came back on and I could not shift out of park again. Used the shift unlock button and on my way I went. Used the shift unlock button again when leaving work and when I got home, I dove in to try to figure out the issue. Did some more research, which led me to use a scanner to look for codes. C1142 popped up-ABS brake pressure sensor. I was going to bite the bullet, but then I found either a video or link that said sometimes it's just the brake switch when that code pops up. So, replaced the switch and again, all was well. Next morning, a bit hesitant, I turned the car on, pressed the brake...no dash lights came on, brake lights worked and was able to shift out of park. Drove to work fine, and when I was a couple of miles away from the parking lot, all three lights came on. I parked, and sure enough, I could not shift out of park again. Used the shift unlock button again when leaving work. Didn't have much time to try to figure things out the next few days. Did some more research, and figured I'd check wiring, since the fuse blew again. I couldn't find any issues other than the fact that the brake light on the rear spoiler was not lighting up. Looked for damaged wiring, but didn't find any. When I unplugged it, I did notice a bit of corrosion, so I cleaned it up. Two nights ago, I decided to look into the fuse/relay box next to the battery, by the firewall. A few years ago, I drove over a deep puddle at a not so slow speed, and after getting home, the car sat for a couple of hours in the driveway. I decided to park it in the garage. When I turned it on, a few dash lights came on and when I tried to drive it to turn it around, I pressed the accelerator and didn't get any response. Parked it, opened the hood and noticed some water in the battery tray. Took the battery out and noticed some water on the cover of the fuse/relay box by the fire wall. Took the cover off, and there was water all over the relays/fuses. Took the box out and dried everything. Put it back and everything worked again. Anyway, I figured I'd check the fuse box out again, just in case I had driven over a puddle (which I could not recall doing). This time, though I took the plastics front and rear covers because I noticed some corrosion under a couple of connectors and relays. I noticed some issues on some of the circuit board connectors, so I cleaned them up and put everything back together. The car worked fine that night after being put back together. Yesterday again, I had no issues driving to/from work. This morning again, no issues driving to work. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the issue has been resolved. Although I still gotta figure out why the third brake light is not working, I''ll be satisfied if I don't have to deal with those lights again. Just thought I'd share, and if any issues arise again (hopefully NOT!), I'll update here. Anyway, y'all have an awesome weekend!
The third brake light is notorious for burning out. It's a small design defect in the circuit board. There used to be someone making replacement LED boards you could pop in there, but they seem to have gone away. I think I got one of the last boards that someone was eBaying. Held it in reserve and sure enough, my 3rd light went out. Put in the board, and no issues since.
Use the forum search for "third brake light repair" and you will see other threads about the issue.
Anyway, it's almost certain that's the problem for you unrelated to the corrosion issue you described. There may be other replacement boards out there.
